Ian, you looked after a mate of mine when he lost his parent, and for no good reason. You were one of the toughest, most feared, and hardest hitting NRL players of all time. And this from a hetero man who is as straight as one of Robin Hood's arrows and as bogan as Mad Max. Nothing but the deepest respect for you for everything you've done, and wishing you the very best for your future and beyond. Jesus better have a step.

I'm sure your sentiment is very much appreciated. Very noble. Are you becoming aware that gay doesn't necessarily associate with weak, feeble, cowardly or any other word that means less than strong and brave. You also don't need to proclaim your orientation (that just adds to people's misconceptions). Be genuine in who you are and stand by your convictions. That's the only way to make the world a better place for every single one of us

Promoting homosexuality has gotten us, as a society, to where we are today.

Exactly , now they're bullies , having gotten equality , moved on to permanent protest while we have to "tolerate" their intolerable behaviour .

Ian Robert’s has never promoted homosexuality. Every one of his public statements that I’ve ever heard have related to his experience as a human. Great footballer. Great human. Happens to be gay.

Mate, where is that? Homosexuality has been around since the year dot. I don’t get the attraction for another fella; I can’t even stand the sight of my own tool, but I understand love and physical attraction and its power. But really, you have to expand on your assertion. Thinking about the really cataclysmic events through history, I can’t pin one on homosexuality. Ww1, ww2, napoleonic wars, bubonic plague, broncos losing the GF last year… are you saying those all happened because of homosexuality? You’re fkn kidding yourself

*I think we can guess the language his dad used. It was used on Kingswood Country a decade later and accepted as normal. It's still used today. Hatred is inherent in people. Something different to the mainstream is always regarded as a threat and thus evil. These are facts we grew up with. Not until it's articulated is it seen as something that could be odd. Racism wasn't known as such when it was natural. The world is compartmentalised into little areas of the unnatural. Unfortunately, people don't care about things so ambiguous until it's on the doorstep*

@allananderson949 Okay, that's true, but as someone famous once said about naming things, 'a rose by any other name'
