They didn't play panther football at all! Teddy constantly got in the way and they ran the fwds for way more metres than panthers fwds who are mainly used in defence!

Yep, this guy gets it. Go and watch the first half of origin 1 last year. Tedyy calls for the ball play after play and dies with it. Cleary passed to Luai only TWICE and scored the second time, Luai to Martin. The problem wasn't the Penrt connection, the problem was that Tedesco was the captain and hogged the ball. Play Cleary, Luai and Edwards and watch how different the team ill be.

Panthers footy doesnt work as refs dont give the blues the same leeway during origin.

Yeah I thought last year that Panthers style vs QLD didn't work, but now I think it's because they didn't actually play that style. If they have Edwards, To'o and a big body like Turbo taking the 3 first hit ups every set, than the big boys only get involved once or twice a set. Guys like Haas, Martin and Olokautau can be energised the whole game. That would be hard for QLD to hold out for 80 minutes.

The Penrith game doesn't work in origin because suddenly they're not up against a bunch of B- professionals. Everyone on the other side is an A- or better.

Panthers ball doesn't work because Billy has figured out that shutting down Yeo shuts down the panthers structure. Bringing in Edwards won't help that.

I wanna see a team focus on two things in attack…quick play the balls, surrender early to get the play the quickly… just like in touch footy.. then off loads.. those two things disrupt the defence structures sooo much!! I’m obviously an armchair critic, but i see so many tries coming from those 2 things.

Qld use to pick up to 12 Broncos when they were winning comps. No one said that was a bad idea. Stack the Blues with current and former Panthers.

@@Plugitinbby But it wasn't the panthers players that dragged the team down. It was Tedesco demanding the ball twice every set and being tackled with nothing to show. And Freddy making stupid decisions like leaving Jurbo out until game 3. Or moving Cook to centre. NSW need to replace Tedesco with Edwards, and let the Penrith combinations run the show. All they did last year was pick some Penrith players and then tell them to pass to Tedesco every play.

But those Broncos teams had more talent than these Panthers. 100%. All over the park. Lote and Wendell were better than To'o. Lockyer better than Edwards. Walters better than Luia. Langer and Cleary were very close, if you want to give the nod to Cleary, that's fine. Renouf better than any panther centre, Lazarus/webcke/Petero better than the panther props, Tallis better than Isaah Yeo.

@@TheShepdawg9 Yep, there's lots of stuff online, and most of it is written by people who are clueless. Cleary only made one mistake in Origin, which was that he should have said to Fittler before game 1 that he would run the team like he does at Penrith. Instead, Tedesco wanted to run the show because in his head it's still 2018.

The word genius gets thrown around to lightly these days.. however, In my opinion, Andrew Johns is a genius when it comes to the game of rugby league. The greatest player to ever play the game! And I’m Queenslander… but that’s irrelevant really, he is just the greatest, yes better than Wally in my opinion.

Yes!! I’m a qlder but I still think Joey would make a brilliant coach! I’m all for state of origin being as good as it can be, and Joey would be the best for nsw I believe.. no one is more passionate about that blue jersey

I've posted this already in a reply. Picking majority broncos in the QLD 90s teams worked better than the current panthers/nsw attempt because the overall talent in those Brisbane teams were better. More talent everywhere, 100%. All over the park. Lote and Wendell were better than To'o. Lockyer better than Edwards. Walters better than Luia. Langer and Cleary were very close, if you want to give the nod to Cleary, that's fine. Renouf better than any panther centre, Lazarus/webcke/Petero better than the panther props, Tallis better than Isaah Yeo.
