On February 11, 2024, NS 256 Triple Crown Train from Kansas City to Detroit was stopped in Butler, IN due to their one and only engine having problems. They couldn’t get NS 9795 back running. Westbound NS Train 19M was approaching Butler Interlocker (CD 358) and the dispatcher was asking them if they had an extra engine to give to NS 256? They said “yes, but it’s facing West”. That means NS 256 will be running long hood all the way to Detroit. After about an hour or so after getting a new leader, NS 256 told the dispatcher that they were ready to go. The dispatcher told them that he has two westbound trains to get by then it’ll be your turn. After the two westbound trains cleared the interlocker, NS 256 got the high green to proceed.
