Caught on the wrong side of the road and the law

It has become common practice in Kampala for some drivers, especially those using Government registered vehicles to drive on the wrong side of the road, in violation of traffic rules.
The Traffic Police have begun cracking the whip and on Monday stopped several vehicles for being on the wrong side of the law.
Two weeks ago, an army truck going the wrong way knocked and killed a man on Binaisa road.
The offending drivers received express penalty scheme tickets of 100,000 shillings each and were forced to drive back several metres to go the right way.

Most Africans learn in a hard way. They wait to be embarrassed and confronted. Hopefully these ever new implemented policies will be sustainable with consistency. Good work traffic police this time .

But even if you're driving a minister or judge, you should know better and driver on the right side of Ugandan roads. So police today is doing it's job.

good gesture. those responsible for roads put road markings. make separate lanes for boda boda. and increase traffic wardens like those guys. this is a gd gesture by traffic wardens. i applaud.

I wont forget last year when an army pickup was crushed to pieces by a train in kireka railway crossing. They came and found all cars had stopped to give way for the train but these guys went on. Lucky enough no one died
