My ah ha moment was the absolute importance of balancing distractions with reinforcement value. I have been doing this for a while and it never clicked with me how I should be thinking about this aspect of training and building it into my plan!!! 😮

One of many A-ha! moments for me is Susan’s observation at about 19:10 minutes: “The dog has so little to do with the [Intensity of Reinforcement] equation in the effectiveness of dog training.” Thank you for making this Season of Nuance series available!

My A-ha moment was that I need to go back to grabbing the leash until my dogs ears are not pinned back and that I should be kneeling because she is a small dog.

My biggest takeaway is understanding the value of ranking reinforcements. And ranking distractions. The equations make it much clearer about how to use those rankings. I’m in Recallers so I’ve made the lists, but this clarifies how to use them. Thanks!

My Ah ha moment driving in the car was 50% is my mechanics which I knew but it hit me in the head. Gotta work on my mechanics by watching three times the videos and videoing myself during training sessions

Watching again. Was at the live but couldn’t sign in to comment. My bad. The biggest challenge for my adopted girl (I’m a foster fail in April). The girl is so sweet but goes off the chart when seeing other dogs. She has dog friends and is cool with them. My moment during the live was the connection of intensity with the right value of treats. Our adoption group has a great trainer that would assist me with the intensity, but today it was that moment I got the bigger picture. Thank you. Collingwood Ontario 🇨🇦
