Kommersant recently published a note that Rosatom is working on a proposal for Gazprom to transfer part of the gas transportation system from gas turbines to electric drives. Their supply may require the construction of a nuclear power plant in Western Siberia. Switching transportation from gas to electricity should reduce the carbon footprint of gas exports against the backdrop of tougher EU approaches to its regulation.
I decided to delve a little deeper into the issue and try to understand where and what kind of nuclear power plants can appear. I will say right away that so far there are no details from either Rosatom or Gazprom, so all this is just my reasoning and estimates. In the last video about plans to build new nuclear power plants in Russia, I wrote that plans are plans, but life always throws up surprises. Didn't think they'd show up so quickly. But the more interesting.
