There are certain points like at 1:07 and 1:12 where he looks like he just woke up from never playing drums in his life to being blessed with an amazing talent but not quite understanding how he can do it or control it, it just happens and now he cannot stop.

I’ve always loved how Alex does stop and go blasts with rolls on the snare and uses his toms in his blasts !!! Kollias and Roddy, Laureno, we’re all the extreme metal guys but Alex was not as well know. . Even Samus agrees he’s one of the best to do it !

I think it could be, so that his heels don't touch the ground and aren't obstructed in executing those double strokes.

It helps do double strokes easier. You can gravity blast with your feet.

@@lordmarco I've found you can get a similar effect going barefoot, since your heel can drop way lower than the ball of the foot still on the footboard. Shoes don't let that happen. Just one more smell I'm happy to provide to the rehearsal space.

He's blasting using the Moeller stroke. Thats why it looks weird but its actually probably the best way to do it vs the flying fingers.

Very cool and unorthodox set up! Some of his cymbals are tilted away from him, all of his drums are completely level with each other, and he has blocks which elevate his double bass pedals. Oh and the bass drums themselves look like 16" Crazy

His technique is weird as shit, but who cares. I saw Despised live twice back the day and he played near perfect the entire show both times, so apparently it works pretty well for him.

It looks like the technique he's using in the beginning during those blasts is Moeller, but a specific Moeller unique to him and him only. Holy shit he is nuts
