Martin Herzbergs new Single "Dragostea Din Tei" covered for Solo Piano.
Here's the Story:
In 2004 the song "Dragostea Din Tei" by the Moldavan Pop Band O-Zone became a huge hit all across Europe. It was covered hundereds of times and some versions were realeased simultaneously to the original (See Haiducii) That's why lots of fans didn't even know who wrote that heavy colored pop track in the first place. The americans instead, didn't recognized this song until it became famous by a youtube user who shot a video of himself trying to lip sync to to it, calling it the song by the name "Numa Numa" as he didn't know its original titel. In result, the song blew up in the states and became a hit. Even Rihanna and T.I. picked it up, using the hook melody in the song "Live your Life". The Song is also known for by the name: Ma Ya Hi
So when I accidentely stumbled across this song in 2009 again, I tried to play the chords on piano, just for fun. But the simplicity of chords and melody instantly changed my view on it as it suddenly sounded kind of classy and deep. I knew I had to make a New Age Piano Cover of it. After a year, I was finally happy with the outcome of my version. So here you go and hear for yourself what one of the most covered Pop-Hits sounds like, when it played on Piano...
P.S.: this song is dedicated to a really good friend of mine, who passed away in december 2010. He was a great musician, true friend and an outstanding role model. "jamie, your music lives on - lets meet in the great beyond"!

I don't know if this is the place to say that the words "Nu ma, nu ma iei" are written apart in Romanian (the language of the original song), not "Numa Numa". But we roll with what the world has created to remember it. This rendition is amazing! 🌍❤️

This is very beautiful ; the arrangement has a philosophical feel to it; where the focus was on a series of smaller moments rather than a repetition of the melody itself like many covers do… this gives such a dynamic and textured feel which I can only assume has some deep meaningful connection to moments passed with the friend who passed

Hello this is my second post on this very wonderful video Please for the second time allow my condolences for Jamie. The first time i heard this i was 19yrs old im back at 20 and it still gives me chills to hear this maginificant piece of music next year i will be 21 and i am sure to come back and listen to this many times again. Martin if you ever see this comment i just want you to know Jamie will be missed and i wish he were still here today.

When I was a kid I heard this song and loved it so much, Listening to it now I was struck with deep emotion and I knew that this song could sound deeper and more heart tugging and you have created the perfect masterpiece that I was searching for. Dragostea Din Tei is a beautiful nostalgic song and your version is too but of a different more bittersweet kind

I will keep commenting on this video and for the Fourth time I am commenting for Jamie im now 24 and 4 years ago my Granddad past away I wish that we could go back in time and talk to out loved one's and just say hello. I'm have to admit that this is one of my favorite songs. It is unfortunate that Dan Balan's compositions really don't shine until they are done as a cover such as you have done. You've cut through the clutter and have made a very sweet interpretation of the tune.
