Growing up I think even the locks, props etc of today were inspired by Lomu. And everyone wanted to play wing.

Lomu put New Zealand and New Zealand Rugby on the map. He was the collosus of the 90's, the ambassador for Pacific island players, The lynch pin and representative globally. The only player to influence coloured South Africans to support The All Blacks.

If anyone talks about England it's the legacy of Lomu and how he destroyed. I doubt if you'd find an NZer saying Lomu was overrated. Very rare.

Typical New Zealanders just dont get it...Jonah Lomu was a rugby God..who made rugby glbally recognised. There are Mccaw..Carter..Meads..Nonu..but Jonah was bigger than the game.

It's jersey 'no. 7!', has and always been. He tackles, runs the ball, supports in the set piece, covers behind the defence, pinches the pill, harasses the opposition, keeps opposition weary and distracted, instigates counter attack and more and they will go at it all day. They are like the SAS in military terms and can play a major part in the battle and eventually the war. New Zealand has always had premium 7's the envy and frustration of the rugby world. When the All Blacks are selected the positions of real interest are the captain, no. 10 and his half back and no. 7.

Disagree.. Number 11 for the ALL BLACKS is the most sacred and famous jersey ‘WORLD WIDE’. And that’s because of Jonah. Although there have been many great players in the number 7 and 10 jerseys (respectively). None more impactful than Jonah in that number 11 ALL BLACK jersey

Jersey Number does not make a man. Jonah Lomu elevated the entire sport. He's smiling now, you can almost hear him..."See what you can do lad..." as he passes it to you. Also seen him wearing number 1 or 14. Annihilation incarnate! Even Portia Woodman dreamed of being the next Jonah. She wears 11 or 14 as well. He would have been proud. 195 tries in her career so far!

Agree to disagree, I believe your still missing the point of the whole essence of this video on how sacred the all black number 11 jersey is. Not only jonah was the first ever rugby global superstar but he put rugby in the word map! After the 95 world cup people in America have heard of jonah lomu but dont know what rugby is. Jonah had hitched the number 11 in his eyebrow for 7yrs while playing for the all blacks. His business was called jonah lomu 11, he tattooed the number 11 on his chest. He had his own fusion logo number 11 and I can go on and on and what he has done for rugby and the number 11.

everyone whose worn the 7 or 10 has been succeeded by someone better or in some instances had a test rival that was better than him. haven't seen anyone who wore the 11 after Jonah outdo him in that jersey.

Sorry i thought we were talking about the most sacred? Its the 7.. Always has been always will be . But the 7 is the most revered in the land. Too many greats to name Mccaw, Michael Jones, Josh Kronfield, etc. Jonah didn't bring rugby out of the dark my goodness. It went from amateur to professional during that period. He was the biggest name then. Which is why Amazon put that in there so there was a reference point.
