I can guarantee that when I was in fifth or sixth grade, some 65 years ago, we were not taught any of this stuff. However, I did arrive at 5 in about 20 seconds.

We do BIDMAS over here (Brackets, indices, division...) so would do division before multiplication but one gets to the same answer.

I got 5, and I didn't bother with PEMDAS/BODMAS/whatever; I just did the math. Numerator: 5 x 8 ÷ (-2) = 5 x 8 x (-1/2) = 5 x (-4) Denominator: 2 + (-6) = (-4) (5 x (-4)) / (-4) = 5

This is mind trick one treat the middle as bracket..... -20/-4 = 5 yep

@@JohnHughesChampigny When I went to school, I never saw +(-2) it was 8 - 2. For me the teacher is making the students dumber.
