First test of the Pellet Project 2015.
In this part, the burner.
Made of steel profile 40x40x3mm
The blower is a 40x40 PC fan 12volt dc / 50 Ma.
The PC fan can be powered via a zonpaneel. (Option)
This burner is part of a universal as possible
stove.
Obviously with cooking facilities.
The whole must be portable.
kachel.
Uiteraard met kook gelegenheid.
Het geheel moet draagbaar worden.

Thank you for all of the measurements and project details. I've been looking for a good pellet stove design to weld up with my everlast welder.

The bottom of that T, bottom of where you out the pellets in, try deforming there. Take a hammer, slowly work your way. If you flatten that part just a little bit, you have less cross section for that part, it accelerates the air while coming through that part (the part where the hopper is), that way, no smoke comes out from hopper, and it stays cooler. I hope i can express myself right. If you are familiar with that, i am talking about venturi effect.

Mr. Bert Heideveld, I commend your persistent spirit for design of a more efficient rocket stove. I am certain that after designing 10 or more rocket stoves you will arrive at a design that is optimized in all respects. May I suggest that you adhere to one design and work on primary and secondary air supply portals before changing your basis design elements. Wishing you success.

I need to make the internal grill from thicker steel. And determine the shape. There should be less pellets into the combustion chamber. The supply of them is still too high. I want a slow but so constand as possible fire. Then I can continue with the other parts. It is too cold to work outside. :-(

Bert Heideveld perhaps you could divide you pellet feeder pipe in two, it could also serve as an air intake (that you could close off if necessary) -10ºC that is cold !

Hi Bert, I was wondering how this setup works with the original rocket stove shape. I mean the shape with the heat riser. Because basically what you have now is a straight pipe with a feeding hopper on top, and there is no heat riser. The original rocket stove shape has an important function, it draws more air inside the stove, the burn is also more complete. I'm also convinced that the steel is not up to a well functioning and well burning fire, the temperature will exceed the melting point from steel, if it doesn't exceed the melting point from steel then the design is not working properly and it will not burn as efficient as it is meant to be with this rocket stove design. I know that this is an experimental setup, but it seems to me that if the basic design is wrong to begin with then your collected data is not valid either. Anyway, it's always nice to watch these experiments. Peace, iT

Hello Susan. Yes it works well and reliably. Now I need to design the rest. Sometimes I can not buy steel. I only need small pieces. And there are often not. I am glad that this part is working properly. It is very cold here. And there is a strong wind. Glad I'm back inside. The smell of fresh bread and cake is in the house. Sophia comes straight from school. Who eats a piece of cake. Me too :-)

Bert Heideveld fresh bread and cake, you can't go wrong with that! LOL. Maybe you will find more steel soon and be able to finish this project.

400ºC? Nice. Do you think if you increase the air flow ratio, will get a stronger flame? I'm thinking build a burner like this to burn pellet from Açaí, i'ts a native fruit what we have a lot here in Brazil. The burner will heat a reactor for pirolysis.
@BertHeideveld
@BertHeideveld 2 жыл бұрын
If you blow too hard, you will blow the fuel out of the combustion chamber. You have to blow gently for a nice constant flame. Make the burner bigger with a computer fan as a blower on 12 volts. Use square pipe measuring about 11 by 11 cm. Or of the same size as the blower. I burned everything in it, but it was an experiment. Good luck

I have watched your videos a long time now. I like this one in size and easy to make. I am interested to see chamber idea. I need to heat my shop building 20 ft x 20ft. I have steel small propane gas tank maybe to use for holding heat with this idea.

OK, we are impressed with this, the 40mm fan is working surprisingly well, do you know its cubic feet per minute rating? Excellent idea for the bolts to hold the fan in place.
@BertHeideveld
@BertHeideveld 9 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I do not know what is the output of the fan. Personally, I assume. That a small overpressure in the inlet channel is enough. I'm not looking for high heat or very hot. Seeking a slow but clean combustion. The final design also get a small chimney. Which can be used optionally. This burner is working properly. I make the internal air holes even better fit.
