My hospital gives market adjustment raises every year and also merit raises as well. My tips for nurses: 1..Work in a magnet accredited hospital. They usually pay more. 2. Be a good and involved nurse. Be a mentor for new nurses and students 3. Become certified 4. Apply for a promotion if your hospital offers that. 5. Work on projects on your unit 6. Change jobs/ unit. 7.Change departments I went from $72K to $120K in 4 years. I didn't go back to school. I don't work OT. I work at the same hospital. I am not a manager and / or an NP.

Been with the same employer for 23 years. My biggest regret is not changing jobs more frequently. Young people today should change jobs every 3-5 years and then stay longer once they are maxed out in the pay scale.

Idk what state you stay in but as a new grad Cardiovascular Technologist in Maryland the average starting salary is $90,000 base pay and that’s with an associates degree. Setting the bar high as a tech already, I am becoming a PA next in hopes they would put into consideration that I already set the income bar high and would like an extra $40,000+ per year of a raise base pay.

Hey, love the tips! I currently got a local travel nurse (flex) job that allows me to pick up whenever and pays really well. But like other prn jobs, it doesn’t offer benefits. Was wondering where do you get your health insurance from? I’m also going to NP school because I wanted better pay and maybe leaving bedside one day when I get older and my back can’t afford it. But at the time when I started school, I didn’t know I was gonna get this local travel job. I’m 2 semesters into school now but I’m starting to question whether it is worth it to continue NP school. I’m doing part time DNP so it’s gonna take 5 years and close to 100k for the entire program. Do you think it’s worth it for me to continue?

hey there! luckily, I am under my husband's insurance. as far as continuing NP school, I like to look towards the future. do you see yourself working bedside until you retire or would you rather work a less physically demanding job where you're guaranteed six figures and have a bigger impact on patient's lives? 5 years will pass in your life anyways!

@@safiyamarz Thanks for the advice 🙏 Though my pay as a local travel nurse is comparable, if not more than an NP now, I see the long term gratification of an NP degree which will serve me with more options when I do consider stepping away from the bedside. Do you know if there’s a cap to NP’s salary like there is to veteran RN’s?

You said you are making $100 for per diem nursing. Is that for an hour? Can it (per diem nursing) be included in the career as well when you apply for another position in another facility?

Some people made me earning money as a registered nurse an issue of race and sex....how trifling is that? Nursing is not about that.
@safiyamarz
@safiyamarz 10 ай бұрын
you and I both know the reason for that lol but its definitely not all about money. I love being a nurse but the level of stress we deal with should be compensated well. no one ever talks about MD pay
