I just got accepted into nursing school and I’m starting in January. I’m so nervous but excited at the same time. I’m here to find out what I might all need and trying to get some good tips. Great video. Thank you

Damn that clipboard is cool. Working in a hospital for now, trying to get myself into a nursing program. Just ordered one of those suckers, thanks for the tip! Keep up the great work man, love these vids. Side note - couldn't agree more on the Littmann Cardio 3, have had mine for years and love it.

Solid solid video. Neuro nurse here, just to throw in my opinion I like a bright led pen light like a stream light. Studies show that led light may actually have harmful effects what kind of light wave over what kind of time cause what problems Ill leave that up to the curious minds out there. The reason I prefer a bright wide light is that I can visualize both pupils at the same time, and if you use just the edge of the light cone it is more pleasant than having a small diameter light pointed at the eye.

Try Aviator scrubs. They are easily the best on the planet. Heavy duty and last forever. More pockets than any other scrub company. They even have belts.

I love anything sharpie! I always have a pocketful of the the sharpie pens and markers. As for the pen light, I use a keychain rayovac flashlight that I attach to my badge.

Thanks for the video, being a soon to grad male RN I am just starting to build up my "take to work supplies" Very much like the clipboard, and when I start getting a pay check I will try the compression socks as well. If we ever meet in person we can chat more about the "after a tough shift whiskeys". Keep up the great videos! :)

This video was so helpful, even though it's an old video. I hope you're still going to make nursing related videos as an NP. I'm excited to become a nurse!

I drop things all the time....clumsy....however not my patients....anyway I have the greatest pen light ever and it’s been through some trauma (literally trauma calls too) but it’s survived. It came in a pack of two, one black and silver, two lights you can change out, one yellow light and one led, and it runs off batteries. I use the yellow light, and the same batteries in it since day one, it’s still going strong and it’s been a year. 😁😁 it’s aluminum and tactical. Love my pen light. Gotta get ya one.

What is the difference between a $75 stethoscope and a $150 one? What would be so different between two-already expensive stethoscopes?
@NOWSKI
@NOWSKI 7 жыл бұрын
From what I've heard, the higher the price, the better the sound quality. I know the Cardiology III has the ability to attach the smaller pediatric drum in place of the bell too. I have used one of the much cheaper stethoscopes (one you could get for about $40) and compared it to my $150 stethoscope.. You can definitely tell that the more expensive one picks up sounds better, has nicer ear pieces, and feels like it will last longer. But honestly, a $75 stethoscope will probably do the trick just fine.

@dickgoezinyah
@dickgoezinyah 5 жыл бұрын
I know this is a year old but just in case anyone else is wondering the same thing, Nowski is correct that it's the sound quality. The main question you need to ask yourself is "What will I be using this stethoscope for?" If you're using it to do routine blood pressure screenings you would not need to use the same one as a flight nurse in a helicopter. As the price goes up it becomes much easier to hear and identify faint sounds. There are two basic categories (for the purposes of simplicity): monitoring and cardiology. Most medical professionals (nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, etc.) can do everything they need to do with a mid-priced monitoring (lung sounds, bowel sounds, blood pressure, etc) stethoscope like the Littman Classic III ($70-ish) and you'd be very happy with the amazing sound quality. If you're in the small percentage of professionals who need to hear and diagnose abnormal faint heart rhythms, then you will need a cardiology stethoscope of an even higher quality. The best one I've found is the Littman Cardiology ($165-ish linked in the video description above) by a huge margin. It has the best sound quality and produces easily identifiable, full rich sounds. Of course, other professionals would also benefit from the Littman Cardiology sound quality even if they're not using it for cardiology purposes, especially if they're newer and just learning the sounds or experienced and using it in a noisy environment. If your budget allows it, this really is the best stethoscope for the money in my opinion. Just be very careful at work with your stethoscope. The nicer it is, the more likely it is to grow legs and walk away when you're not looking. A cheaper stethoscope will usually get you by just fine but in this case you really do get what you pay for. You just have to decide based on your needs and your budget.
