Жыл бұрынOn this episode of Street You Grew Up On, Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon take a trip out to the countryside of Nashville, Tennessee. We take a look into her charming childhood filled with good food, good music, and lots of adventure. Growing up, Reese was a spirited tomboy with a big imagination and loved to explore out in nature. Her grandmother introduced her to books at an early age which inspired Reese’s lifelong passion for reading. This hobby allowed her mind to travel to different worlds, which in turn sparked her curious mind to see what was out there in the real world beyond her bubble. Her dream as a child was to be Dolly Parton when she grew up, but would eventually catch the acting bug unknowingly passed down from her great uncle generations later.

Her childhood reminds me of mines, being southerner. You don't come home until the lights come on at night. You explore your neighborhood. Learning how to swim by jumping in the lake. And this was the 80's.

It’s fun and intimate enough that I feel like I’m actually just sitting in the room with you and your guest sitting quietly and being taken in by the conversation you are sharing learning fun and relatable things about the people we admire most…people who if we could pick our friends from all the people in the world it feels like each one of them would be a great choice. It's great, Reese, that your grandma instilled in you that wonderful interest of hearing different characters from many books. What a wonderful and beautiful influence. I loved this episode. It really spoke to me when both of them talked about going home after venturing out into the world and things just weren't the same. That happened to me. In fact, I'm making a trip home soon and it's been a very long time since I've been there. I'm interested to see how some things have changed and how some things have remained the same.

I had absolutely no idea you could eat honeysickle! When Reese was explaining how it’s done, it made me want to go out and find some to do my own tasting experiment. I do remember eating the stems of I believe it was mustard weed 🌼

I’m dating myself but do you remember The Golden Girls? Specifically, the episode where Sophia takes Dorothy to her apartment where she lived prior to her (Sophia) husband passing away. When visiting my old neighborhood (East Harlem in NY) I’ve attempted to re-visit my old apartment where I grew up as a kid. I knock on the door but the resident didn’t open the door/was home. 🤣🤣🤣. I’ve done that several times.

Hey, I believe I saw that episode a few months ago. I remember Sophia thought Sal had carved a heart for her in the kitchen, but it was the kids' height markings there instead. Then, she went into their old bedroom and realized he had actually carved the heart on the closet door in there.
