The late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is today acknowledged as the great master of Qawwali who popularised this beautiful and inspirational music beyond Muslim peoples to a worldwide audience. Mustt Mustt is the first of two albums on which the singer collaborates with Canadian producer Michael Brook to place the music in a contemporary setting.

I remember this album being reviewed in a Stockholm newspaper thirty years ago, with the following inspired pun: "it's not about *julmust*" - Christmas brew, a beverage with lots of froth like beer, often consumed around Christmas here in Sweden. 😄😁 Musth in Urdu/Hindi means "rage, passion, unleashed desire"

classic proof that qawwali works on the dancefloor too. the dramatic beats on the tabla work well with massive attack's tight reggae rhythm.

"Mera vird hai dam dam ali ali Sakhi laal qalandar must must" Shiites consider Ali and the leaders who came after him as imams. Most believe in a line of 12 imams, the last of whom, a boy, is believed to have vanished in the ninth century in Iraq after his father was murdered
