Is there a functional medicine approach to thyroid problems?
Yes. Nutritionally speaking, the thyroid requires magnesium, zinc, vitamin B12, 2, vitamin C, iodine, selenium, iron, vitamin A, vitamin D, and omega 3 fatty acids. Ensuring that these nutrient levels are optimized is fundamental in supporting thyroid health naturally.
Nutrition and the functional approach to thyroid should be implemented by all doctors. As nutrients are essential to proper thyroid function and production. For more information about the functional medicine approach to thyroid healing, drpeterosborne.com/

This is probably the best Thyroid related video I've come across so far and I've watched many. Thank you for explaining things so clearly. I just started T3 today but do believe in nutritional treatments so I'll watch out for any hyperthyroid symptoms as per your warning. Hopefully, I don't have to be on the T3 for long.

ThyVita Women's Ultra has all these nutrients, but you have to make sure to take it 4 hours after your thryoid meds. It leveled out my TSH and all my vitamin and mineral levels as well. Great stuff , great video!!

I am a health coach. I also had thyroid cancer. I help many clients who are trying to lose weight, feel tired and have low thyroid. This is the best and most concise explanation of how the thyroid labs can be misread and how the right nutrients can make all the difference. I would have liked to hear how some foods interfere: soy, gluten, fluoride. If you ever need a health coach to help clients make food changes, let me know!!!

Mary Brooks I'm no specialist but I've heard others say that bromide, fluoride and chloride replace iodine in the production of t4. the only problem is that though these three get used by the body, your body can't make t4 out of them so then your labs look like you have an under active thyroid. Remove bromide, fluoride and chloride from use or consumption to alleviate this possibility. Your body can't differentiate between these four. hope that helps.

Formidable information. It was so well explained. I finaly leave with a chart, a number of nutrients that I would like to be checked because I'm very worried about how much hair I lose for a long time now, and so many other symptoms (cold, fatigue, lack of concentration, anxiety and a bout of depression). Thank you so much again.

Thank you so much for this video! I'm in school for nutrition and this was very informative. I was aware of the importance of iodine and selenium but your explanations of the nutrients needed for TSH as well as cellular T3 utilization were especially helpful as I'm writing a paper on hypothyroidism and struggling with the condition myself. Very much appreciated and subscribing!!

Thank you so much for a concise and helpful presentation. Would you consider giving a lecture outlining how to daily meet these nutritional goals with our daily diet. Especially for women over 50 that usually can only eat about 1500-1800 calories without gaining weight. For example I eat 5 g of brazil nuts everyday. Can I count on that to meet my selenium needs You mention D2 but isn't D3 the preferred form. Could we meet our daily needs for zinc with an ounce of pumpkin seeds. How about Vitamin A...would eating a few ounce of liver a week help that or should we be takng fish oil. What do you think of Dr. Brownstien's push to take Idoral or is it better to get iodine from kelp and sea food but how do you do that safely while taking Thyroid hormones? Is there a thyroid supplement that you recommend to help someone to gradually get off thyroid hormone. I have has so many questions for 10 years while on T3 and T4 and you are the firs tperson that is starting to shed light on this for me. I have been trying to track my food and figure out where I stand with all the micro nutrients but it seems like I would have to double my calories!! Also wondering if one really has to be concerned how eating cruciferous veggies every day especially if raw..will affect the thyroid..can this be compensated with eating more kelp for example. How much kelp do you recommend on average per day?. Thank you so much for any help with all these questions.

tangobart Gluten may make antibodies. Taking iodine when Se is low may make antibodies. Hidden gluten may make antibodies. LDN may help block hidden gluten. No gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO and vitamins/good oils, LDN and detoxing help me help my brain/body/depression. Vit D3 5000IU, zinc, fish oil 2000mg, 20000mg of evening primrose oil. 2000mg of lecithin, krill oil, coenzyme Q10, rhodiola, Mg citrate, Vit C, 5000mcg of biotin, Nature's Plus- Source of life multiple, HCl and enzymes with meals, dairy free probiotic, Vit B12 methylcobalamin shot/spray/under the tongue kind/intrinsic factor kind, MTHF folate, coenyzme Q10, rhodiola, may help brain/body...thyroid etc. health issues. Gluten is wheat/barley/rye..oats may act like gluten with avenin. GMO corn/soy/canola oil may hurt. Amour thyroid maybe needed since gluten may made antibodies to the thyroid. Sunlight (helps the immune system and helps to heal the gut lining),exercise, organic food, good water..not tap water, cooking by scratch pure food, no food in a box/bag/premade/label/restaurant which may help avoid hidden gluten. Nuts not sold in the shell/meat basting/some spices may have hidden gluten and lotion/make up etc. One restaurant cooks special for me...rice/veg/tea/extra mushrooms (no meat since the woks may have MSG/gluten in them). EDTA/DMPS IV chelations from an Alternative doctor, 600mg of cilantro, zeolites, organic sulfur, Now brand- Detox support and more may help detox. Hair tests show good minerals and heavy metals. Heavy metals can block thyroid and other chemical reactions in the body/brain. LDN may help block hidden gluten, but the Celiac diet is still needed. 100% no gluten may help rebuild cells as more nutrients absorb.

Is it any wonder that so many people suffer from hypothyroidism when their diet is largely junk?
@Shasha8674
@Shasha8674 9 жыл бұрын
Valerie Thorley Gluten can make antibodies to the thyroid. ~97% of thyroid issues are due to gluten (wheat/barley/rye...oats may act like gluten with avenin). I need no gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO...vitamins/good oils, LDN to block hidden gluten and detoxing. Heavy metals can block thyroid/chemical reactions. Also Zinc/Se/enough iron/probiotic is needed to convert T4 to T3. The probiotic may help 20% of T4 go to T3 and iron may help get the the T3 into the cells.
