I am really digging this Nux Melvin Lee Bass Preamp + Di. Was looking for a pre-amp with a light-duty drive. This definitely has a nice simple drive. I love that you can go in and change the IR settings on your computer and select the head and cab sims that work for you. My preference is the MLD amp combined with the SV810 cabinet. Another great feature is the ability to turn the cab/amp sim on or off to your amp output and the XLR output. I like engaged for my in-ears and to house XLR output and OFF to my stage amp. There have been some negative comments about the software but they have since updated the firmware to V4 and I had no problem.

I got this pedal for a present! It's a wonderful piece of hardware especially if you're playing straight into the mix console and using in-ear. The sound of the IR simulators is amazing!

@zjlen ... If you plug in your headphones to the pedal, Does it affect the D.I. out signal? Coz I would like to use it as my In Ear Monitor during a live gig, Just wondering if its possible or not. Thanks in advance

Hi Gregor. Erst mal wieder Danke für die Produkt Vorstellung..... Immer wieder schön. Frage. Kann ich den Drive so anpassen dass ich beim schalten von Clean auf Dirt einen Lautstärke Unterschied bekomme. So um die 3 bis 5 DB um Präsent zu bleiben. Quasi wie bei meinen trace Elliot ..... Da macht das das Pedal ja automatisch? Dankeschön

This is an absolutely wonderful pedal. Beware of buggy software. I was waiting for a bass version of the Strymon Iridium. This will do nicely. The one downside is that away from the editor, you have to decide on which amp and IR you can use.

René sounds great as always. No matter which device he uses. :-) maybe Melvin and René are so perfect but I mainly need a compressor. If I use this for direkt recording, why Nux has not integrated a compressor?

Commonly, my brother playing very well at a Bass at church and some coffeeshop.. So I giving him my old Zoom B1 multieffects for tweaking some tone.. I hope I can helping him for find a new pedal, so, is good for upgrade from Zoom B1 to Zoom B1 Bfour or to this Nux preamp? He playing many effects modulation and any variations like octaver and others, so it be complicated for me to choose for him...

Hi, i would have a question, i m building a compact battery powered bass amplifier, so j would use an hifi speaker plus class d amp+ preamp with IR o cab simulator. So i can also plug other instruments to it (like the volca sample) because it has a flat and hifi response if i bypass the pedal. Do you think this pedal could be ok (to be hooked directly to the clean hifi sustem)? What about the cheaper harley benton custom line Bass DI expander?(i see you reviewed it, and it has the compressor) Thanks for the good video

Hi Gregor, nice video and it definitely made me wanting this little Preamp. At Thomann and talkbass I read there are several Problems getting the Box hooked up to the SW. Did you have any porblems with yours? Regards, Daniel

The software is slow and loves to crash (on my Mac) but it gets the job done.

Seacow cabs: American invasion or the dark glass IR. They are free but supporting with a small donation won't hurt.

I loved this thing as a headphone amp, but the software was a pain in the ass. Lucky that the stock sound was great but still would have been nice to have that work.

I'd like to ask a question. Do the settings you change in the editor while the pedal's hooked up to the computer (ie. Amps and cabinets ir) stay with the pedal or are those options only available when connected to the editor software? I couldn't find anything about this on the reviews and neither on the manual.

Once you safe the settings, they’re in the pedal. No software needed on the go

It's really it's own thing. A dedicated digital preamp/di with ir cab sim where you can change both the preamp modeled and the ir. Easily worth more then the asking price.

What exactly is the "THROUGH" out for? In what situations would you use that in?

I preferred the di switch in the down position. Is that with the cab sim on or off? I think it's an oversight that it's not labelled and the instructions on the website miss this also

it's off in this setting. But there are different IR's you can load. Mayne another one works better for you.

The pedal is probably subtle because on every example demonstrated, you've had the parallel blend below 12 o'clock.

@@jaribu2758 There is no upside to colonialism, I'm pretty sure nations of the world could've discovered each other's culture, become a melting pot without the barbaric brutality of colonialism and I asked about South Africa specifically...the country, not an entire continent because I heard slight whiff of Maskandi in the bass player's approach when he started his demo. ( a distinctly South African sound from KwaZulu)

I want this.However instead of a demo by the likes of Rene who makes anything sound fantastic, I suggest getting a hack like me for your video because if it makes me sound good then it'll really convince buyers

if you say this is melvin lee davis pedals, you have to play one of his songs. Honestly this is a very bad review, you don't show Melvin Lee Davis playing with this pedal at all
