@johnj.spurgin7037
@johnj.spurgin7037 2 ай бұрын
@Skrallizar logically, the crucible is the first ages of the world's, because before that all life was "blended together." The Great Tree/Erd Tree grew from the crucible, and the modern erd tree came into existence because the Godskins and Gloam-Eyed Queen turned their flame upon it. This is supposedly why Marika removed Destined Death from the Elden Ring, because that flame burned the Great Tree and reduced it to the erd tree. We know the burned butterfly is Melina's because the DLC is adding a 4th butterfly, presumably Mesmer's. Also, Mesmer and Melina both being associated with flame...
@Skrallizar

@@johnj.spurgin7037I won't say "you're wrong, I'm right", but I feel that you're reading into things a bit too much. In the very next video of Vaati, he brings up the "Great Tree/Erdtree" thing, watch that bit carefully before assuming things. He isn't always "right", the ability to make our own canon regarding things that aren't explicitly told to the players is a part of the charm of these games, but the thing is, there is no hard evidence of a different giant tree existing before the erdtree. At best, the Crucible is called the "primordial form of the Erdtree", implying it was a tree (or tree like) thing that would end up becoming the Erdtree. The whole Gloam-Eyed Queen and removing the Rune of Death was more about Marika herself not dying (and possibly fighting her as a fellow Empyrean as the Gloam-Eyed Queen is "said to have been an Empyrean), as the black flame at its peak was called a god slaying flame, and unlike the ruinous flame of the Giant's Flame, the black flame was never explicitly said to be able to burn the Erdtree. Giving Destined Death to Maliketh and ordering him to do what she wanted him to do was so that she could control death. The whole "black flame burned the previous tree" is at best speculation about things that aren't mentioned at all combined with enviromental story telling, which is cool to use for headcanons, but claiming that "this is the way things are" as a fact is too much. As for the butterfly thing... why is that a thing in this conversation? Like, cool theory, but that makes it revelant to "Placidusax was a previous Elden Lord"?
@johnj.spurgin7037
@johnj.spurgin7037 2 ай бұрын
@@Skrallizar It says that Placidusax is said to have been elden lord before the time of the erd tree on Placidusax's remembrance. The whole thing about the great tree and erd tree being the same is based on a bunch of things, though if you want to argue that there's no decisive evidence that's... probably fair? Smoughtown did a good video on it and a lot of the analysis, but I do have a question. Why do the doors of Leyndel depict such a different tree from the Erd Tree as it appears in the game? The only answer I can come to is that the Erd Tree did not always look like it does in the game, and we know the godskins wielded fire and sought to annihilate the golden lineage. As for the butterfly thing, that was a bit of a segway. My bad. That was me spiraling into "Melina is related to Marika" things.

48:28 The reason why she needed to defeat Radahn is because he was holding back the stars. Miquella and Malenia had a close relationship with Godwyn and so when he died this caused both of them to try and resurrect him via what is referred to as the Eclipse. However the Eclipse failed most likely because of Radahn and so while Miquella was embedded into the tree Malenia went on to march across The lands between and fight Radahn not just for her fate but also Miquella and Godwyn. I don't think she intended to bloom but that it happened in a moment of sheer desperation. She passed out afterwards and was carried all the way across The lands between to the Haligtree by one badass knight called Finlay. Unfortunately by the time she arrived Jeffery Mohgstein already kidnapped Miquella.

I think it makes more sense if the moons or the stars WEREN'T an outer god or another. In the age of stars ending, Ranni explains that this new age will lead people to loneliness, to mystery, to the unknown, shit like. She talks about how it is like the cold, dark night that encompasses all. I think the themes make so much sense if what Ranni is actually doing there is banishing the Greater Will and not replacing it with anything. Such that people are not ordained by fate anymore. You are not shackled to a predetermined life or system, but instead it is all a big unknown, a mystery, if you will. Like our world? Like she is transforming a world where people don't have to think for themselves because everything is preordained into one where the future is unknowable. That would make it scary and lonely for the people of the lands between, but it would be the norm for us here in the real world.

An interesting thing is that the story takes heavy inspiration not just from Lovecraft and Berserk, but also Celtic and Norse myth. The demigods are surprisingly similar to the Tuathé de Danann of Celtic myth, which makes sense since this Divine lineage began when the Erdtree sprouted and took root in the Lands Between. Befitting as Radagon is similar to the Dagda, Father of the Tuathé, and Marika is similar to his consort, The Morrigan. Fia, Ranni and Melina are reminiscent of the Three Princesses from the Ireland founding myth: Eriu, Banbha, and Fódla. Here, each of these three "queens" represent their own domain of The Forgotten Lands: The Stars, The Golden Order, and Those that Live in Death. Hoarah Loux is significantly similar to the Ulster hero, CúChulainn. While Loux uses an Axe and Cu uses a Spear and Sword, They're both powerful wrestlers and fighter kings who become significantly stronger when angered. A symbol that is used by the Golden Order, constantly, is the Treyarch or Triquestra; the loops representing a cycle of Birth, Life and Death. The Erdtree is mainly based on the World Tree, Yggdrasil, but I kinda see some of the Celtic great oak tree in there, minus being fed by a holy river like the Danube. Ranni herself might be a link to a princess named Rhiannon, a woman known to be the goddess of horses. And Ranni also happens to be fairly acquainted with Torrent. Not enough? One version of Rhiannon is named "Macha," who is one of the three goddesses of Death (like Ranni, Renna and Rennala) Malenia has a good mix of a few of these references. --She's obviously a Valkyrie in design, bearing holy armor and wings along her feminine figure. --her fiery red hair and disposition for War bears resemblance to Scathach, a celtic War goddess from the Orkneys known for training CúChúlainn. --her arm is likely a reference to Nuada, aka Nuada Silverhand, who was the Tuathe that led combat against the Formore. Speaking of which: The Omen and Demihumans seem ti resemble the Formore, who inhabited the Island alongside the Fir Bolg, the humans that they warred with before the Fir Bolg themselves fought the Tuathe De Danann. (Btw, the Sword of Eochaid is named after a Fir Bolg, Eochaid, who would become High King of Ireland.) With the Fell God in the Fire Goant being similar to Balor with that one giant eye. Although, I think I can safely say we should all be very gappy we did not get to FIGHT Balor himself, or we'd never finish the game. The Roundtable, Gideon and Tarnished all bear resemblance to Arthurian Knights. They are warriors who have died in service to their lord, resurrected to continue their service in their land's time of great strife, and bare holy destiny by their god's will. I could list more, but that'd probably be an hour or half-hour long read. These are kinda the ones I noticed firsthand. Also, "Blaidd" is Welsh for Wolf.

You forget an important fact. Before ue fought you, Radahn fought Malenia and forced her to use her rot powers AND retreat, WHILE holding back the stars AND keeping himself from crushing his horse. Guy is beyond broken in the verse.

So the thing with the Golden Order is that they didn't wipe people out just for disagreeing with them. Part of the Golden Order's modus operandi was learning from friends and foes alike and incorporating them into the Golden Order wherever possible, constantly analyzing the world and the Golden Order itself to improve it; such is the nature of Golden Order Fundamentalism, or the scholarly and theological pursuit of understanding the fundamentals of the Golden Order and the universe. This is why, rather than pursuing a war of annihilation against the sorcerers of Liurnia or the dragons, means were found to make peace with them and the Dragon Cult was allowed to take root in the capital of Leyndell, although the art of Dragon Communion was seen as taboo because it involved killing dragons and devouring their hearts to become them, rather than venerating the dragons as holy beings. It should also be noted that Dragon Communion is a practice not native to The Lands Between, whereas the Dragon Cult of Leyndell and the original Dragon Cult of Farum Azula, also known as the Ancient Dragon Cult, are expressly from The Lands Between. The Fire Giants were an exception because, while the Fire Giants generally stayed atop the mountains and only warred with their neighbors, the ice-worshipping Zamor people, the Fell-God of Fire was an inherently evil and destructive being that had its claws in the Fire Giants, and the Fell-God's flames were hot enough to burn the Erdtree and threaten its existence, which is tantamount to saying that the Fire Giants had a tactical nuke pointed at the Golden Order's equivalent of Heaven and the nuke was partially sentient. As a matter of fact, there's evidence that the Golden Order went to war with the Fire Giants after they already burned the Erdtree, as when you first arrive in Leyndell, there are large piles of ashes scattered about, implying that there was a great fire in the distant past that covered the capital in ashes that still haven't been fully cleared. When we burn the Erdtree ourselves, the capital is buried in these same ashes in roughly the same areas we see the ashes piled up highest previously, but that is not all. The act of burning the Erdtree is considered a 'cardinal sin' of the Golden Order, and prophets who speak of visions of fire are shunned and ostracized and even banished. But why is that the case when the Erdtree itself is considered a perfect being by most adherents of the Golden Order? Could a perfect existence be burned by something as lowly as the Fire Giants who were put down by Godfrey and his warriors, who themselves lost their Grace and were banished from The Lands Between? Well, one theory is that burning the Erdtree isn't just a theoretical cardinal sin, but rather it is the first unforgivable sin against the Erdtree and the Golden Order, and one which necessitated the eradication of the Fire Giants and the death of the Fell-God of Fire. And even then, the giants were not totally eradicated, as those who forsook the Fell-God's influence and sided with the Golden Order or swore themselves to Liurnia and Raya Lucaria survived, becoming the giants and trolls we see throughout the game, some of whom still serve their old allies as soldiers. It should also be noted that Marika left one Fire Giant alive, as the Fell-God's fire could not be extinguished and a Fire Giant, bound by its pact to the Fell-God that demanded one Fire Giant always tend to the flames in its kiln, was needed to keep the Flames of the Fell-God under control.

I have two theories, technically three. I do believe that Melina is the daughter of Marika and Radagon. Messmer, in the DLC is a son of Marika, with red hair, a name that begins with "M," is an older brother figure to Radahn, and has a curse, that of a serpent of flame. His father has to be Radagon and his twin sister is Melina!!! But for him to be a son of Merika and a big brother to Radahn. He would have needed to be born before Radagon west to war with the Carian royals. While Merika was still married to Godfrey. Which then makes me think of the other children of Marika and Godfrey. Godwyn, Mohg, and Morgott. Their names dont quite match. Mohg ans Morgott have names that start with "M" are cursed like Malenia and Miquella just this time with the omen instead of youth or rot and Mohg and Morgott are twins. What if Mohg and Morgott are not children of Godfrey but children of Radagon. Godfrey just thinks they are his. Meaning there are a total of three sets of twins sired by Marika and Radagon. Two pairs of which were born before the two were married. Before Radagon went to Caria. Marika was going to kill Mohg and Morgott when they were born because of the Omen. Godfrey wouldnt let her because he thought they were his own sons. Makes sense that Marika would be resentful over over this defiance and be much more secretive with her next illegitimate children

I like to think that the Marika and radagon being the same person is kinda like they were originally one person, but Marika created Radagon as another form before she decided that the golden order was bad. And since Radagon was not as powerful as Marika he was more influenced by the Greater will, so when the greater will commanded him to he left renalla and joined Marika, they sired the two cursed children and then when the shattering started the greater will forced radagon to wound and restrain Marika while attempting to reforge the elden ring

'In the warp a giant stirred; an image flickered through a mind larger than a nebula. The sleep of Gork was troubled. In his dreams he wore a metal body and led his children to victory. The dream lasted a brief instant of long eternity, something about it caused Gork to smile but not to rouse. In the warp Mork too was disturbed. He dreamed of war spreading like a green stain across the galaxy. He saw billions of his children following giant warmachines built in his crude image on a great crusade. He found the dream good. And slowly his vast mind moved towards wakefulness. Gork and Mork stirred. Their dreams reached out and touched the dreams of their people. A billion Orks turned in their sleep; suddenly, inexplicably infected by scenes of slaughter and reaving, plunder and the taking of worlds. When they awoke they looked on their surroundings and found them dull. Gork struggled towards awareness. After centuries of dormancy it was a long process. He sensed other Powers in the warp trying to interfere. He blocked a subtle tendril from Slaanesh, ignored a baleful warning from the Emperor, discounted the triumphant cry of Khorne. He reached out with his millennia-old mind and gathered the strength of his people. Soon he would be awake and active. A body of steel had been prepared for him. A time of blood and iron was approaching. As Mork gathered strength many a Warboss found himself afflicted with thoughts of power. Ancient ambitions were re-kindled. Long vanished thoughts of conquest stirred in the recesses of slow minds. They planned raids on nearby Humans and toyed with thoughts of alliances with old rivals. Not even great soul-searching could explain why this was so. The Ancient Powers knew what was happening, though. The Waa-Ork was coming. Gork and Mork stirred and a wave of fear passed through the warp. Suicide and incidence of violent crime climbed steeply. On Icolbar an Astropath screamed and threw himself from the balcony of a starscraper apartment, yelling that his people were doomed. On the craft-world Hope of Other Days, an Eldar philosopher stopped listening to the atonal music of his water-chimes and began composing his death-haiku, feeling his life had been justified. On distant Earth, a living corpse in a golden throne opened eyes that held fear for the first time in centuries. Gork felt his attention being tugged towards one tiny world on the edge of Orkdom. A strange attraction drew him to it. He leaned down from warpspace and looked upon it. His breath brought storms in the Ash Desert. His gaze caused machines to break down. His lightest tread brought earthquakes. Seeing the disruption he was causing among his people he withdrew. He knew the time was not yet right for his return. He withdrew but he left a message. Mork moved on the face of the warp, brushing aside Daemons and ignoring ancient barriers set by long dead Gods. He moved from world to world and placed in the heart of every Ork the desire to be restless, to move, to follow the siren call of adventure when it came. He sensed other Powers subtly striving to oppose him and laughed as their attempts to restrain his crude, irresistible purpose. The Emperor knew that he must save his people. If Gork and Mork unleashed their hordes then any unprepared worlds would be swept aside by a green tide of death The Emperor bent his thoughts to the task. Across Human space, within the range of the Astronomicon, Imperial Tarot began to foretell disaster. Commanders consulting them found all the signs of impending catastrophe on a cosmic scale. In the Segmentum Obscura, Battlefleets were recalled and prepared for war. On the homeworlds of the Adeptus Astartes, Space Marines reached for their weapons, knowing their time of destiny was near. On the edges of the Eye Of Terror, the Orders of the Adeptus Titanicus roused their ancient war-machines. Having surveyed his Empire and seen it was ready the dying immortal within the Golden Throne prepared himself for the conflict to come. Gork and Mork knew that they were ready. Their people were agitated and prepared for battle The Emperor, their chosen enemy, had deployed his forces. The first skirmishes had been fought, now war was about to be joined. Beyond them they sensed the Chaos Powers watching, waiting to see what advantage the God-brothers' actions might bring them. In the darkest pits of creation twisted creatures prepared to follow the Orks' advance. Gork and Mork did not care. They knew they were strong enough to resist Chaos. The time was right. The time was now. It was time for Gork and Mork to have some fun. In the Warp Gork and Mork waited, well pleased. Across the face of a million worlds their children were on the move, a green tide that would topple empires and re-shape the Universe. The Waa-Ork was on the move.' I will post this on all of your videos until you watch Baldemort's: The Secret History of the Orks.

About Radahn holding back the stars, it's a little easier to understand when you realize stars in Elden Ring are completely different from the ones in real life. What Radahn was doing wasn't holding literal celestial bodies or anything, he was instead making a barrier of sorts between the Lands Between and the stars/outer beings by isolating the world from the sky. Imagine the universe is inside a bubble and the stars are the outside of it, what Radahn did was kinda like insulation that bubble. Worth noting that the stars and the Outer Gods are similar, and there are connections between the two, but they're not necessarily directly connected. The Elden Beast is a star that acts as a vessel to an outer god, and the Moons, which are intrinsically tied to the stars, act very similarly to how Outer Gods do. There's also the eclipse, which has some more complicated stuff I won't go into now, but relates to both gods and stars too. But at the same time, the Greater Will is the only god that's ever directly tied to stars in the game's text from what I remember, and Radahn's actions didn't seem to affect the God of Rot or Flame of Frenzy in any way, implying they have nothing to do with the stars. So it's all pretty vague when it comes to if and how those concepts connect.
