Imma be honest, when Mal's death art was shown, I almost cried, so when that image showed up I legit started to tear up. Mal was by far my favourite character next to Mikey, Sourkrout and of course, Jay, so seeing Mr. Money bags himself reading to Mal's kids, it hit the feels.

I wish this format of nuzlocke was standarized and more content was made, this is perhaps the peak of what a nuzlocke should achieve, attachment. Each pokemon is undoubtedly alive and a character in this mode, death feels real and the moments away from it cannot be also the more enjoyable character moments.

True! I think that the (partial) point of Nuzlockes, that being attachment to characters, has faded away at this point because people have become numb to the Pokemon dying. With such lovable and memorable characters, this is the first time in a long time that my reaction has gone from “Yup, that’s definitely gonna kill” to “Oh no, that’s gonna kill” Every close call had me on the edge of my seat, every success having me jumping for joy and punching the air. Good stuff! I think to increase the longevity of the series Salty could make the rules gradually more strict over time (e.g. using set mode, banning items in battle) but either way I’d keep watching because for once the difficulty isn’t the focal point. It’s the friends we made along the way.

The Nuzlocke forums have a lot of so called "storylockes" that focus on the story first and foremost as well as comics based on people's runs with a focus on story/character attachment. Obviously the quality varies like with all other kinds of fanfic, but maybe you'll find something you enjoy in there?

Pete had great character building, for the entire series he's been a rich pain in the ass who's name sounds like penis, but he became a genuinely good man in the end. he provided encouragement when Derek needed it most, and took one for the team when everyone else was scared to go out, and going on to take care of Mal's kids after it all.

God, I missed the last few streams initially and it's a shame because that Dana Snyder bit got me so good. Just like the rest of seasons 1 and 2, I'm wildly impressed by the amount of effort and polish that went into the editing. One of the coolest things about this season was the amount of collaboration and art that went into it, from the Pete Ness cutaway gags to that absolutely boppin' opening theme. I was very happy to be a part of that and I had the biggest smile on my face seeing my name pop up a couple times throughout the series and especially while hearing "On The Road" during the credits. I know a lot of people are already asking for season 3 but you have earned as long a break as you'd like from videos of this magnitude. Happy as always to have seen them and I'm eager as always to see what you're hoping to make next! You're a real one, Salty.

Wow, I can't believe season 2 is actually over. The sheer amount of effort put into these edits of the already incredibly entertaining full streams is what makes the friendlocke the best pokemon playthrough on all of youtube. I'm so glad I got to watch the streams live this time around and get involved with the incredible community this series has built. The friendlocke combined with everyone’s comedy and humor to make the story different is amazing, I bet even though it’s day and hours of streaming than editing all the footage, it must be a fun experience, simply amazing, i can’t wait to see if the friendlocke returns and with new friends or special guests to make it funnier

When I first clicked on the first episode I wasn't expecting a big character drivin plot but I loved it all the same and I think that friendlock is probably my favourite series on KZfaq ever, so thank you salty and thanks to all the animators, moders and ofcours to all of saltys friends for making the show what it is.

I honestly nearly cried when Pete was sympathetic. It was legit heartbreaking seeing how hard the strongest members of Salty’s team fell. You know as they say, the bigger you are the harder you fall, however the stronger you are, the more you get back up. Stay strong Salty, you meme loving fuck.

Im literally in tears WTF, I binge watched the series on the last three days and honestly its the best Pokémon content I have ever seen in my life, as a huge Pokémon fan I've seen a LOT of content on Pokémon, and this is the literall best. The series is extremely entertaining, it has a ton of funny moments and emotional ones too (my personal favorites), honestly, Salty managed to create such a fun experience with this. I know its only a Pokémon challenge series but I sincerely loved this, thanks for the content Salty and please keep doing it.

While a major undertaking for y’all, i think this season ended up tricky being something special, not just for you but for us as well. This is gonna be either epic or sad as hell Edit after watching the video: man…what a fucking season. I thought you couldn’t top season 1 but somehow Salty manage to do it. I honestly wish I could watch the entire series again on a first viewing, it actually impacted me that much on how enjoyable this series was to me. This is a one of a kind series I feel like only Salty can make it enjoyable. Thanks Salty, his friends, and the rest of the people who put this together for a hilarious and actually emotional rollercoaster of a series.

I just wanna appreciate how goddam intense, yet goofy these past 2 seasons have been. I am more attached to some of the pokemon than characters through entire shows. I also just wanna thank you. When i've been down, there would always be a video to watch to light my spirits again, even though how rare they may be. The effort of you, your friends and your community really show. Sadly, i never got to see this live, but if by some chance you make a third season i would hopefully have time to watch them. Godspeed man.

From the little animations and edits scattered throughout to the truly, unironically epic moments like the animated music video - it’s just leagues above other content in the genre. It's been a while since a series has left me with a calm smile at the end, little tears of joy in the eyes. I genuinely think I'll always remember some of the characters in season one and two for the rest of my life. Coach Cos for being such a hyper personality, Sauerkraut because they remind me of my younger self a lot, Pete Ness for just bein' funny, Mikey in season 1 for being a menace to everybody around him, Mikey in Season 2 for being Mikey. Just a bunch of lovable characters. Also, the music is great. It's so campy that it makes Scatman John songs look like Lincoln Park in comparision, I love it to no end.

Honestly aside from the original Nuzlocke Comics I don't think I've ever seen any Nuzlocke challenge that had more heart wrenching deaths. This really has what a lot of Nuzlockes miss, giving your team members real character

God, I wish I could properly put to words how much I adore this series and each and every person who was involved. The amazing editing and artwork that went into this makes this all feel so lovingly crafted, and the friends who were along for your journey are all wonderful and funny people that each brought the playthrough to new heights with their energy and chemistry. I know this was probably a monumental task for everyone involved that involved more hours of work and effort than I can imagine, and I'm sure it will be a long while before we see anything like this again. But from the bottom of my heart; thank you! Thank you to each and everyone one of you for being who you are and making this such a joy to experience!

This season especially was powerful. I've been going thru some personal life changes that have caused me to become more emotional than before in my life, and have had several tearjerking moments in this season. I love the amount of passion and dedication you guys all have to do this together, and admire each and everyone of you that participated in this.

BIG SPOILERS: The Ghetsis fights are, in my opinion, the best fights in the entire series due to one thing: the build up towards them. Ever since _STREAM 1,_ Salty's luck with catching pokemon was...not the best. It felt like every mon was either a bottom tier (ex: Brady, Oni, Hannah) or a really great mon with exploitable weaknesses (ex: Kringo, Gerber, Luke). Going through the series live, knowing how absolutely brutal the N/Ghetsis fights are, and watching Salty catch one bad mon after the other was nerve-wracking as it felt like Salty would never get what he needed to form an efficient strategy. Eventually though, he managed to get enough good mons to stand a chance against Ghetsis...which is why it was so heartbreaking watching them all die 1 by 1 from Cos all the way to Gerber. On the final stream, the one right after the 1st loss, I was convinced Salty would lose. "Maybe he'll make it funny since he has no chance of winning" I told myself. Which is why it was so incredible that Salty managed to win in spite of the odds: reversing his mistake at the Clay fight by overleveling his team to ensure they would beat Ghetsis, like some kind of actual fucking anime. This series has been a rollercoaster of emotions and I've loved every second of it. While there are somethings I would have liked to see in the season 2 anime adaptation (ex: more chat stuff, that 1 godtier Sauerkraut quote, Adam Sandler), I can't complain with the results.

Man, what a ride. that finale was crazy, with everyone giving it their all in their roles. I was at the edge of my seat during those fights, and the banter between everyone really heightened the stakes! It was so sad to see so many of them not make it to the end. Season 2 was just as every bit as charming as season 1. Continuing with turning a challenging premise into another installation to an enjoyable and captivating story lead to fantastic results. This is such a memorable series, and I can't wait to rewatch it all over!

Got the notification for this and immediately dropped everything to watch this. Season 1 and Season 2 have been a tremendously helpful distraction from my rapidly deteriorating mental health and yes it's a KZfaqr Nuzlocke and not actual therapy but I do want to express how much it means to me. I know Derek has been feeling burnt out, especially during season 2, so I appreciate him continuing it even with that. I have rewatched season 1 and 2 multiple times. Definitely in the double digits and at least 15 times. I'm excited for the future of this channel and the content you put out Derek. Been around since the day in my life series was first put out. :) Love you, man. This finale was worth the wait. 😊💞

Knowing that Ghetsis and his team is an infamous run killer, Salty blew him out of the water with the team he didn't even expect to make it all the way to the end! Although I’ve only just started watching these videos since January, It’s been such a joy getting to partake in the hype for this finale!
