As a software engineer, I always wanted to develop games but games unlike other software requires other professions like script writers, digital artists, animators, 3d designers and so on. Because of latest changes it motivates me to move into gaming industry as I now that in the future AI will help me do everything alone.

After 36 yrs as a professional S/W engineer, I stepped away about 18 mos. ago to take care of my Mom (alzhiemers). I started out as a EE at Purdue and got into writing embedded RTOS software in by the late 80s. From the first pulse-ox to the Mars Rover and then into large fin-tech systems, I finally hit the wall. Much of the burnout had to do with the lack of discipline both with devs and mgmt. While I've never been a 'gamer' (and I fkn hate StarWars) I'm still interested in using tech to help people. I see the current state of AI as a way to do just that, and like, you 'do everything alone' or, more realistically with a tight-knit group.

Same, design and engineering systems is my primary focus as my time is spent on so much else, even if I'm an artist and know how to do everything, it's a matter of time. The innovations of late may allow me to enact all my designs and systems in an amount of time that can actually work with the rest of my responsibilities. Here's hoping the future stays bright. 😎

Wait till we’re in 2025 and every phone, iPad, laptop and TV, never mind doorbell and cctv system, has its own multimodal AI LLM that will learn everything about you and your preferences, habits and lifestyle and will act as your lifelong personal assistant, automatically updating and improving itself and communicating with and utilising other AI systems, tools and software to carry out tasks autonomously on your behalf

And we aren't even at the point yet where AI is _inventing_ things. We're still the ones having to come up with ideas and program them. The point where AI is advanced enough to come up with viable ideas and implement them... that's when we talk _disruption,_ haha. I'm glad I'll be alive to see what happens when we reach that tipping point. :)

Anyone who has seen unrecorded knows just how crazy games are going to get in the near future. It makes me wonder if all the big pushbacks over the last year or 2 are studios realizing the exponential increase in quality and depth that will be creatable in a rapid time frame thanks to ai.

Im getting the feeling, that we are not far off of a future where we can simulate games like they are reality. with npcs that actually feel like they are actual humans and a natural storyline that follows without any scripts but just the things hidden throughout the world. And I dont know if I am exited about that, or scared, because whats the step after that?

As a gamer this is great, it levels the playing field amongst studios with varying budgets, this will hopefully force all creative teams to pour more into story and gameplay to set themeselves apart from other teams. So in a way it could be a breakthrough in storytelling as well. I can't imagine how many great stories have been left untold due to financial constraints.

Hard to tell on the facial stuff for uncanny valley when the actress they used is overacting and using such forced expressions for the demo. It looks like the software managed to match pretty well, but would have been more telling to see someone with more subtlety since thats where the errors are generally.

I believe that the problem is that we don't have any alternative right now ... nvidia is getting all the monopoly of these technologies ... AMD is sleeping, and there is nobody else. There are no open source or free software projects, anything similar (or at least what I know), alternative. So the big companies will be bigger, and the SMEs will disappear ...

It's the same in every market, which allows them to take liberties with its customers by imposing unwanted restrictions and rules on the platform. There needs to be an app the public ownes that can allow people to communicate and promote alternative services and products when the primary one dominating the market goes too far.

Not sure on that. The latest ARM Gen8+ with AI accelerators are capable of an insane amount of things at an at least as good result / watt which for something of scale is important. Also AMD has secretly included AI accelerators in both their CPU and RX GPUs - their main drawback is that they have forever refused to finally write a CUDA compatible driver which is the core of most of this and nearly all of AI research due to the much better API than trying to use the stuff in Vulkan, OpenCL (which to be honest stands no chance against even 3 generation old versions of CUDA, even less to the current even more optimized version) despite users pushing for it since CUDA 1 for exactly this reason …

Bruh i'm just watching Detroit: become human playtroughs (by Jacksepticeye) right now and i'm convinced we can already do something like that. All these Large Language models can probably interpret everything and act as a controller managing 'plugins'. I just needed something entertaining to distract me for a while because in all honestly keeping up with a playtrough about an A.I. game (thats coming pretty damn close to reality right now if i may say so) is actually easier than keeping up with the rapid rate of progress of A.I. in the real world.

For years, I've been disappointed at the length of time it takes to create big budget AAA games. It'd be amazing to get a new Metal Gear or Fallout game every 2 years or so instead of taking 5 - 7 years between each. Looks like finally, the tech to enable that is just about here.

@@TickerSymbolYOU the sales pitch for Skyrim, hell even oblivion, was hyped up as if every NPC has a real “life”, a schedule. Persistent worlds where every thing you do can affect them. Same deal with the fable games, or with that little Milo demo they hyped up. I feel like we have almost caught up to the reality of that hype now, better late than never :)

NONE of this is live, its all pre rendered footage. Even the girl has practiced and practiced exactly the timing, her expressions, and her dialogue, so that it matches the pre rendered footage of the "capture", and the same with the rest of the UE Tech demo. These actors on stage are doing none of the show live. Remember Peter Moleneux's Milo demo?

We now pray Nvidia and Unreal can work together so unreal can use AI GPU like H100 and use power of multiple GPU in one PC work station. At the moment we are limited by one rtx4090, still crush all the time and difficult to make super large scene..

No one in the consumer sphere is going to buy a $35,000 GPU to play game on .... The Chip in the H100 is an AD100 and it's slightly slimmed down little brother is what is in the 4090 .... An H100 alone isn't all that powerful, it's when you put a bunch of them in a cluster (Like SLI on steroids) and put a bunch of clusters together to form a supercomputer that it all comes to life and blows everything else away.

@@longjohn526 yes, multiple GPU, even rtx 4090 in a cluster is what we really want. We are not consumer kids playing games. We are cresting serious VR video with big metropolitan 3d scene like London and Paris with hundred or thousand rigged metahuans. We are hungry for much much more computing power than just single rtx 4090. Now we have to put up with this limitation..

UE has had facial animation with an iPhone for a few years. I wanted to play with it but I'm not an "iPhone person", I wish there was a standalone depth-sense camera that worked the same way out of the box. But, I guess, I'll have to buy a used iPhone.

If these tools help to give artists and creators the time for beeing more creative on the story and the gameplay... Then bring it on! If it is just used to speed up the dev. cycle I'm not so sure if this then does more harm than good.

This biggest problem that I see is "ownership". If you ask Ai to create something for you, do you own the copyright to it? Does AI? Does the AI owner? What happens if AI creates an image with your likeness without any of your specifics being input? Do you no longer own your likeness? Are companies going to be happy sending their company data offsite for AI companies to do what's required? What data security is there? There will always be people who want to control what is created and how it's created. If someone asks AI to create something, the AI owner can control AI to include or exclude datasets because of their ideology and biases.

Unreal Procedural Content Generation is not using AI. Procedural is the key word because you have to create a system through nodes that updates when parameters are changed. It's not AI magic, and it's extremely dependent on the person making the graph to actually understand how it all works to get the desired result.

it's not AI that's procedurally generating the assemblies. at 7:43 the speaker literally says it was created by an artist. the unique aspect of such features is the interaction between the assembly and the surrounding environment.

Sure but right after he clearly shows how the 4km square is literally generated on the fly by AI and can be tuned. So it’s seeded by something an artist built and used to create something 400x bigger.

@@TickerSymbolYOU i apologize for assuming the focus was on an incorrect timestamp. but coming from a game developer with extensive experience in Unreal Engine 5, nearly all of the procedural generation systems that are being utilized in the newest version of Unreal are being powered by pre-defined mathematical algorithms created by the engineers on the Epic Games team. with that being said, both 'AI' and 'procedural generation' are incredibly broad terms with different meanings and there is certainly and overlap between the two whether it be hypothetical or not. until AI manages to reach a fully automated state (artificial general intelligence), developers will always be required to set these predefined parameters as the current state of AI doesn’t serve a great benefit when it’s allowed to run completely on its own due to it inherit unpredictability. however, this current argument will most likely be obsolete within the next 5 years due to the rapid innovation by companies you've presented so well in this video. awesome video also bro

It’ll be a while before AAA studios start taking risks on new tech. I think what we’ll see is indie games get much better for the same price or smaller studios make new kinds of AAA titles

Using only I phone for those facial motion capture is a bad idea . That's because I phone is expensive ( in this case dose not mater if Unreal Engine is free )

So the only people who will be able to use this are those with money to throw around, considering the amount of power a computer and graphics card will need to handle it, so the cost of the latest computer tech will be out of reach of those with lower incomes.

@@TickerSymbolYOU By which time you are already behind everyone else who has had the opportunity to play with the latest tech. That's an uphill battle I have had to deal with for the last 10 yrs. If I want to use what's available today, it would take me a few years to afford the tech to do that, by which time the current tech is obsolete. It's a never ending cycle and leaves anyone who is on the lower income spectrum in the dust.

I don't know if OpenAI cares about public attention these days, but they say vague things like not developing GPT-5. It's like waiting to be overtaken by NVIDIA. OpenAI does not seem to understand well that even if the development of OpenAI technology stops, there will be many alternative companies and the acceleration of progress will not stop.

There is great developments in AI but if you take current mobile gaining platforms the revenue is already in the trillions. Put an ai bot behind a game an it won’t just create FOMO environments designed to get you to spend, it will create artificial pay walls and caps beyond the predatory behaviour that exists. An AI driven game would be a nightmare when set upon our youth or people with addictive personalities. Can you imagine and AI investing bot, I guarantee it won’t use momo or any other content sponsor. It would calculate maxing risk and reward ratios and invest perfectly every time. I want that.

Everything on the omniverse Nvidea youtube page is totally underwhelming so far ( for the last year ). A big nothingburger...individual software packages one way traffic to this tech hub ending in a giant tech traffic jam.
