Kanu notched a goal and an assist as Arsenal drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich

rsenal let slip a two-goal lead against German champions Bayern Munich at Highbury in their second group stage Champions League fixture.
Manager Arsene Wenger's home side provided most of the attacking threat and took the lead through Thierry Henry in the first-half.
Nwankwo Kanu increased Arsenal's advantage early in the second-half but a lack of concentration allowed Bayern a vital and immdiate equaliser through Michael Tarnat.
German international Mehmet Scholl completed his side's comeback with a 25-yard free-kick to leave Arsenal bottom of their group before a break in the Champions League schedule.
Arsenal: Manninger, Vieira, Keown, Adams, Pires, Ljungberg, Henry, Grimandi, Luzhny, Kanu, Cole. Subs: Lukic, Dixon, Bergkamp, Wiltord, Lauren, Upson, Vivas.
Bayern Munich: Kahn, Sagnol, Kuffour, Scholl, Elber, Sforza, Effenberg, Jeremies, Tarnat, Salihamidzic, Linke. Subs: Dreher, Andersson, Weisinger, Sergio, Fink, Zickler, Santa Cruz.

Corruption and God fatherism have killed Nigerua football, since Players started making more monies than Foctors Lawyers and Accoubtsnts that oyr oarents used to beat is those days to stay away from football, to take our education seriously so that we get good jobs. Now that professional football pays so much,the rich now sends their biys to the best football academy and influence Ciaches etc for them to b called up into d national football tram,when they fail to break in to big clubs abroad. And the Okochas and Kanus and Taribo West Finidi George products of street football are abandoned not giving the opportunity to show case their God given talent due to corruption manipulation by the high and mighty. The corrupt system in Nigeria

@@frankmomoh8157 Maybe some of that. But the truth is that because he was used as a super sub by Wenger for much of his time at Arsenal (due to his heart condition) meant they weren't as many 'moments' involving him, as say Henry or Viera or Bergkamp.

You are right, it was nearly impossible for any player to take the balloon door back to back during their days. There were better than the best players almost in every club. Look at this current beryarn player and Modric, they would probably not made a 50 man balloon door nomination at their performance during those days that world best players were almost in every club.

@@michaelolaleye6273 bro there is a high lack of brilliant players today.Not saying Messi and Ronaldo are not very good but they will not be winning it like they are now.They was a high level of great players then,with likes of shevechenko,ronaldigho,kaka,pirlo,thiery Henry,Pablo nedved,a fading but still dangerous Ronaldo delima,Adriano of inter,seedorf a lot of them.i can't even finish the names but today I can't name 10 players completely.

He is actually Nigeria's BEST.. Okocha is no where near Kanu on medals trophies. For my opinion,,Kanu , Finidi George and Taribo West should make the list of Nigerians into Africa's BEST 11.. Cameroon Samuel Etoo is Africa's all tine best,, for my opinion.

I strongly believe that was why Okocha despite his incredible talent never played for any major European clubs. Those clubs needed players who could help them win championships and not players who just wanted to do as they liked. Again Okocha was incredibly talented, no credit taken away from him.

Plz let's not compare those legends. Kanu is my favourite, but I remember that Okocha was referred to as the engine of the Nigerian team by a commentator during the 2002 world cup. Okocha was instrumental to our comeback in AFCON 2000 final, unfortunately we lost in the penalty kicks. So let's be thankful that we watched them play. God bless you.
