Assaulting a Transit worker in NYS in a serious crime punishable by up to 7 years in prison. The question to ask is how many people convicted of this crime are actually serving ANY prison time let alone 7 years. You know the answer and it is the same answer to why there are so many attacks.

People need to be complaining about the bail reform law (which is letting out criminals on the streets) more than asking for more police. Police can’t be everywhere all the time! By the way Hochul could make this happen but instead she puts the national guard in certain subway stations just for show.

The city has to address mental issues and stressors in the city… too many mentally ill are seeking refuge in the subway cars etc … in addition the city has to protect its workers by putting barriers between the drivers and conductors … I don’t think this is too costly or difficult … this is also the price of displace people due to gentrification inequitable discriminatory rent laws and poor housing policies and mental health treatment availability …
