And there are Good neighborhoods in NYC. This area has always been a problem area. Its about 2 to 3 blocks. How can you be walking down the street and see a lady on floor getting stabbed and you risk your life to get the attacker off her taking fatal stab wounds in the neck....and there is no mention at all of this mans bravery and humanity! There are many of what is termed as, "the homeless" who gather along that stretch of E.14th Street 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Selling items found in trash, or that they receive from churches, or that they just stole from a store. This has been a problem there for quite some time. Previous to the DeBlasio Administration, the neighborhood was safe to walk through. It all started when the Catholic church located on E.14th Street between 1st Ave. and Ave. A accepted a flea market within the church courtyard. It is when the problem started. A lot of these homeless people did not either pay a fee to be part of the flea market, or have the money to pay the fee. So, they decided to go along the sidewalk from 1st Ave. to Ave. A. It has been a problem for some time there. As well, a lot of drug dealing there, due to two illegal marijuana shops on that same block. If the truth is going to be told, the news should tell it, total and complete.

I could feel something bad was gonna happen on this block. Since covid it’s gotten worse and features people who appear to be down and out, like a skid row. I was on my way to a local record shop when I saw a homeless woman over there, pants down doin a number 2 in broad daylight. It’s a sharp contrast I can feel in that area between those who are financially thriving and those who are destitute.
