NYCT Bus: 2024 New Flyer XE40 NG

Seen here is MTA New York City Transit 2024 New Flyer Industries XE40 "Xcelsior CHARGE NG" #5010 (along with 2021 New Flyer XDE40 "Xcelsior Hybrid" #9536) on the Q59 making its way along Queens Blvd to 62nd Drive.
Today was the first day of service for #5010, which is the first of a brand new fleet of electric buses entering service in the city. These buses will see service at the Grand Avenue, East New York, and Michael J. Quill Depots in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
The pilot buses, #4965 and #4966, recently went back to NFI to be retrofitted with the same safety devices the rest of the fleet has, which are for use if the batteries of the bus are overheating / malfunctioning (which has been the case with a few of these electrics around the country).

My predictions for upcoming 2025+ bus fleet: New Flyer XD60 (670 buses): 6287-6956 Prevost X3-45 (381 buses): 1630-2010 New Flyer XE40 (1,130 buses): 3500-4629 MCI D45 CRT (92 buses): 2011-2102 or 2790-2881 New Flyer XE60 (90 buses): 1110-1199, 5603-5692, or 5680-5769

Kingsbridge was supposed to get them along with Charleston, but they both got taken out of the running…

Jamaica depot was also supposed to as well, but because that depot is being reconstructed, it was booted off the order

@@the_transfer_pointAlso expect these buses on Fresh Pond routes if there’s a shortage of buses there. The other day a 2021 XDE40 from Grand Avenue (9543) ran on the Q55!
