In fairness, Day Lewis even laughs about the fact that he doesn't want or need to speak about his films. He feels all that stuff is guff. What he does isn't that important. It's only a movie at the end of the day and although the people involved work very hard to make it, like all great art, movies are useless.
@davidlean1060

@@garbohydrates193 He may not, no. Just because he learns the role and excels in it, it does not follow that he understands the director's full intentions. Phoenix has been in two Anderson movies now, but do you think he knows why Anderson had his strange obsession with Exodus? Does he understand why Anderson references Kubrick in the way he does? Whoever posted that comment is not calling Phoenix and idiot, but he he is saying he will not know as much about the film as the guy who made it.

No there isn't, today's hair fashion is heavily influenced by that of the 50's. Clean cuts, pompadours, etc. in fact most of these hairstyles have survived every generation since -including the 90's.

Hey she's on edge, she's been made into a Hollywood actress which has a major effect of her sense of not being enough and therefore she overcompensate. And aside from that it's egocentric/Luciferian/ low morale environment. So she's dealing with a lot, they all are. A lot of rumor of child sacrifice and blood ritual and orgies and casting couches. It's a evil place. Makes regular people wicked.

What's so odd to me is how these actors who are in front of people ALL the time can be so awkward. I know some of them only do film/TV but to some extent public speaking is part of their jobs. Amazing book, amazing movie & cast. Pynchon conspiracy theory: Mickey Wolfmann bad guy likely based on Roland Arnall real estate grifter in 1970’s Orange County & nationally in the 2000’s. Arnall was Bush’s biggest contributor, sponsored the Texas Rangers & wound up as Bush’s Amb. to Luxembourg with $3 billion from selling fraud based loans to Lehman Bros. He supposedly “died” in 2008 just before Lehman & banks failed as told in the book “Monster” (as in Wolfmann). And like, who cares already? Pynchon cared. Joaquin?? He did great as Doc. Messed up the Academy Awards & glad he kept quiet here.

Inherent Vice is definitely the worst film of PTA. Not that is that bad, but his others are so better. And I doubt it can grow on you, The Master can grow on you and is better each time you watch it, Inherent Vice is just exhausting.

David Lean It feels like when the Coens did Ladykillers but way way way to much happening and a storyline that makes you not even care what happens

I couldn't disagree more, I love it, but then again I have read some Pyhcon before and I recognize it, you get me? Not only do I think this will become my fav PTA film, I think it's also the most subversive he has made. I could go into why, but all people seem interested in at this early stage is that the film is confusing..it isn't, because the film is not about 'the plot'.

David Lean I know this film is not about the plot, but about what is it really? All other elements are incoherent too. I think this film doesn't' succeed in any way to convey something. All things feels all over the place, so I don't really care about anything that's going on. I think that's the biggest problem. PTA films should not make you drowsy and exhausting. Ok there were some moments and some potentially cool atmoshpere but as a whole... it was such a unpleasant experience and such a disappointment. I highly doubt it I would check this film soon again and I consider myself as a PTA fan so I don't say that easily.
