This is a fish curry Malaysian style called Nyonya Fish Curry that comes from a category of Malaysian food (cuisine) called nyonya cuisine or baba nyonya food. Ingredients:
460 gms Tenggiri fish/ Spanish Mackeral
1 long purple brinjal
4 strands of long beans
8 ladies fingers/okra
¾ tbsp belacan/dried shrimp paste
100 ml coconut milk
½ cup cooking oil
2 pieces of assam keping (garcinia atrovirdis)
3 tbsp fish curry powder
A handful of daun kesum/Vietnamese mint
One bunga kantan/torch ginger
600 ml water
Salt to taste
To be ground into a paste:
1 medium onion
5 cloves garlic
3 stalks lemongrass
1 ½ inches fresh turmeric
12 dried red chillies
8 gms ginger
