As a fire department recovery diver, I can tell you, it's never a rescue. By the time we are activated, it's been at least 20 mins. We have rapid divers on our two lake units, but even then, you are counting on someone seeing the victim go underwater, and then someone being ready to go. It takes about 10 mins for me to dress out in my dive gear. Plus, there is recon involved so we dive as close to the reported areas of the victim as possible. This is NOT scuba diving in the Caribbean. We are called bottom feeders for a reason. In the muck, in the dark. It's hard enough with 1, let alone 3 like this case.

I can’t see how an underwater car accident can ever come up with survivors unless they’re awake and find a way to escape on their own. It’s really sad, but truthfully, unless there’s good samaritans willing to dive in and try to save them, they have no shot if they’re unconscious or trapped. Even then, the good Samaritans have a decent chance of becoming victims themselves. I’ve thought about it before and even though you are playing the part of a rescuer, the thought of running into a dead body in water with no visibility freaks me out. It would give me nightmares. By the time first responders get to the scene-if the victims are still under water, it’s too late. In this video I see a ton of resources being used. They tried hard and found them. Pretty much the best outcome they could have asked for. So sorry for the families and thank you to the divers and first responders for risking their lives and putting others first.

Somebody made mention that it took a long time to get them out. First, off we don't know how deep the water was and how damaged the car was and in the comments, people say that the water is very polluted, no telling how much debris was underwater and what those drivers had to fight through just to get to the car. Then they have to get all 3 men out of the cars, though god knows what, and then bring them to the surface. Nearly an Impossible job. They made an Impossible job possible. But of course, it took a long time to do so. Thank you to the hardworking men & women of the NYPD & NYFD.( Chicago here!) My condolences to the families of the 3 men who lost their lives. God Bless you all.

One of the most painful deaths there is, DROWNING, as we all have experienced a little inhalation of water into our lungs from swimming or drinking water to fast. And being BURNED alive is very painful! Being an ex-firefighter I've heard the gruesome screams of individuals trapped in their residence. I wasn't allowed to run in there and try to save them, but I cried out loud from my heart for their anguish and us, being their last chance for hope!

I was in the military & did all I was required to do no problems. However, there are some things that simply take men, strong men, to do a job. I was no wimp at 5’8” & 145lbs I could carry 80lbs around with relative ease. I was very strong back then. But I also knew that a man my same height, or near like my 5’9” husband, was waaaay stronger than I. It’s just how it is folks. This is generally speaking & I know there are a lot of women out there that could easily out-do me. All that being said, if I ever need to be rescued from drowning or a fire or anything I couldn’t get myself out of, I want sone big men in their prime to show up! God bless all of you 1st Responders! Your jobs are very hard & you can never “unsee” what you’ve seen.

According to a news article : "The three men pulled from the water were taken to nearby hospitals where they were pronounced dead. Police identified two of the men, 25-year-old Quameek Mack and 30-year-old Luis Cuadros. The car was still submerged several hours later, waiting for NYPD crews to arrive and pull the wreckage from the water." Speed was also a factor. I hope they all went quick, as drowning is horrific. Why? Stay in the loop, you know it’s going in, remember your last position, rolling over? Ok so now we need to swim in another direction. Wait till the car equalises, take a last gulp of air, remove that seat restraint on the way in. Swim toward light, if dark? Allow your body to float up, now you know which direction. Ignore current and trees, old cars, branches, other passengers etc clamber up the bank, providing it’s not icy or muddy, job done. Now what anxiety are you on about?

@LLN NYC as a retired first responder who did this for a living. WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO BE SO DISRESPECTFUL TO THE DECEASED AND THEIR FAMILY.?? Seriously? You can’t show common decency and respect by blurring the body? You think that the family members want to see their loved ones like this? I know your doing it for the shock factor and views, that’s even obvious in the camera persons voice when he states ‘is that the body’. Show some fucking respect, not just for the deceased and their family who might come across these videos, but also out of respect for us first responders who have to relive this shit. Plenty of other media do the right and respectful thing by blurring the bodies, why can’t you? Or do you have a sick fetish for necrophilia?

@bluckyjones
@bluckyjones 2 жыл бұрын
@@debbietros1211 no the difference is , when i was being taught manners i was also taught common sense & decency & to not have judgement towards others ..especially those who are dead..regardless how they died. & it wasn't my intention at all to be a bitch...im just saying, nobody intentionally does something like driving too fast around a curve knowing their gonna be killed...& none of us were inside that car & know exactly what happened to cause them to go into that water. For example 10yrs ago my brother was driving a new vw jetta with a coworker of his & wrecked into a tree off the interstate & it was stated that speed was a factor only on further investigation it was found that the new car he bought had a faulty break line..so everyone assumed he was being irresponsible & speeding on the interstate & put a lot of lives at risk when instead the reason he struck a tree & killed himself & his friend was because he was trying to save a lot of other drivers lives that he saw were stuck in traffic up ahead & he knew if he had stayed on the road he woulda crashed into them & possibly killed &/or injured countless more people. He sacrificed himself to save others in a situation he couldn't control & was started by no fault of his own. So, i get upset when i see anybody making assumptions about people & situations that none of us have any right to make. All of those people lost their lives, just like my brother. Your comment was highly insensitive & uneducated mam...& i say that for any family members that were to read your comment & it cause them further pain cuz ive personally expierienced what that feels like. I wish a lot more people would think before they say things & come from a place of compassion & leave everything else up to God. Too many people on the internet think its ok to say stupid hurtful remarks while watching other peoples families get killed due to everything being readily available & viewed during this social media driven society we are now in. & ill never put anybody thru the pain i went thru. But maybe thats just the set of morals & values i was raised with. You take care & God Bless.
