Very well made clip. The only shame is that one cannot see the final result - the harvest. How many onions do you get from one of your onion plant? Would be great to see the result of your efforts. Thank you.

Do you have any idea what the yield would be from each of the onions planted? Would the harvest be one onion per planting? It doesn't make sense to use 90% of an onion to grow just one more onion from it.

I was waiting to see you spliting the onion to have to plant more onions, some 2 , 3, 4, young plants , not like that you plant 1 you have 1 plant. Perhaps some onion greens. We grow and learn, thanks for the video

Good video, when I do that, I only cut about a half an inch off of the bottom of the onion and plant just the root part not the entire onion. I like the relaxing music also.

You could just start with the sprouted onions and plant them directly into the window boxes, and skip everything else. I put one onion in a pot of dirt, went on vacation for two months and had a dozen onions when I got home!

Лук для зелени можно садить сплошным полотном как понять это посадка идет один к одному рядом друг к другу не остовляя пространство поливать редко не заливая водой может загнить донце у луковице и полетят мухи

You can't harvest with planting onion the only way is while the plant mature flower in the plans produce seed then we need to plant the seed

You only need half an onion so you can use the top and groe the bottom and the botyom part will become a while onian and you can use and grow

use around a inch piece of the base of the onion, sprout this, and then divide it into pieces when it has rooted, you can in fact plant it again and grow it to maturity with these pieces from the one

Im confused, so basically, only one onion grows per plant! So you basically wasted an onion to grow one onion. Help it make sense to me?

I have grown new onion bulbs like this many times. You just have to divide the original bulb into two or three plants....you will see the natural divides, otherwise you will get two or three half onions in one....not very big. And competing for food and water. Takes the normal amount of time. About 6 months. I plant mine in compost and bone meal, and use a.little bicarb too, cos our soul is so acidic. What's more, it's best not to firm the seedling into the ground too much. The roots need air....so I don't press down...just about at all. Grows very well.

I also plant mine straight into soil....after starting them off in water to get the green shoots. Put water in a pot with very narrow top, place onion on top and voila! New shoots. Don't forget to remove the papery skin or you'll get mould stuff growing at the bottom. Change the water once or twice a week, and make sure to keep topped up to just under where roots start. Try not to touch onion bottom with water....again it just goes manky, soggy and smelly. And develops root rot.

Yes. In India, for production of onion bulb seed is used. First of all we raise the seedlings from seeds in nursery. After 5-6 weeks, the seedlings are used to transplant in the main field at a distance of 10x5 cm distance. It is the common practice for onion bulb production.

Wikihow says once the plant gives flowers, the bulbs will been grown. This takes about 90 to 120 days.
