Recorded | Monday 12th March 2018
Auckland Domestic Airport Terminal | New Zealand
I decided to wait around to record some government cars (crown car) on Monday while dropping off my friend for a Queenstown flight. It paid off, Prime minister Jacinda Ardern and Deputy Prime minister Winston Peters arrived a short time later.
For a brief time I drove a crown car at the end of my four years as a chauffeur. I worked that time as a contract driver and got to meet many of the politicians of past an present.

I love the way with the dramatic music that a guy is unloading sandwiches and broccoli and then a DHL van arrives just after.

Politicians with good morals and friendly leadership, do not usually have killers after them.

Those DPS men and women are awesome. I've dealt with a couple and they've always been extremely professional.

Good timing or did you know she was coming?

Joanne kiwigal I’d like to say good timing but a bit of experience has helped me here, after all I was a chauffeur for many years. Mind you my timing dropping my friend off was well timed. Didn’t expect to see Winston, that was a bonus :)

I've got a question when jacindas escort is happening do they stop at red lights When they don't have a police car
@jamespeter1662
@jamespeter1662 3 жыл бұрын
They do stop at lights under normal operations, but motorcades no.. often that is only for some important visitor otherwise the cars and the escort follow the road signs, lights etc.. I think the dps (diplomatic protection) in unmarked car can dictate the traffic to get out of an awkward situation say protestors or danger :)

I'm from the philippines and its way different. Our president travels in huge convoy of cars with an ambulance.

Hi, yes much more security than ours that is for sure. I have travelled to the Philippines, Cebu. Congrats on your new President Marcos, he seems a nice guy from what I have seen :)

I cannot believe that there is only one security car following prime minister's car.you just have to watch the convoys of other world leaders like US PRESIDENT,PM of INDIA etc.very difficult to believe that a prime minister of a MAJOR. country like newzealand can travel with minimal security.

Yes I often wonder myself, but we have been like this for some years and dare I say it most the fleet is not bullet proof only a few for VIP diplomats former leaders that visit. That maybe different now but at this time of video was the case. The PM's car is always usually in front of the protection car also ;)

True, nz is relatively still a safe place for politicians where they can blend into the crowd with out much fuss unless you have a higher profile most people don’t know who sits in parliament these days 🤭

Yeah pretty much how the PM travels unless the car is part of a motorcade when dignitaries or world leaders visit :)

@@choppersilver Yup sounds about right, yes I use to drive one for a brief time but worked alongside VIP Transport as a contractor for a few years mostly when the fleet were BA/BF Fairlanes then the first lot of BMW 730ld :)

@@jamespeter1662 how cool! They are still around. Theres one earlier 730ld with a squillion ks on the clock for 8k. Still has the radio in it. Hey you would know, who does that t2000 tait radio communicate with that they have??
@jamespeter1662
@jamespeter1662 3 жыл бұрын
@@grantvivian9142 yes seen a few pop up some very tidy others not so. Yes I recall the RT were Tait T2000 or T2040 or something like that but later models after the first series of BMW's used no idea. Usually it sat below the heating or radio controls where storae box is or possibly if couldn't fit there in the centre consol box perhaps (some earlier Fairlane LTD had it there early 80s)

Hi, I don't think its too much a worry, these cars are in the public eye often and there is a fleet of them so may not always be the same one they travel in. Thanks, id do more but often get the wrong attention, or suspicion which puts me off. I drove these (earlier model BMW) for a short time, but did 5 years on an off contract work for a small chauffeur company which did quite a lot of government work. Great job, but the years when Ford LTD's were the cars being used would have been much better.. BMW's are rather boring :)
@regregan6852
@regregan6852 Жыл бұрын
Why exactly? And not as if they are trying to blend in anyway. These are literally the only cars in the country with CR plates so not exactly hard to spot 🤷‍♂️

True rather easy to see and they always fastidiously clean shined up tyres and the flag mounts on guards are a give away tho the style has changed to a side fender mount opposed to the traditional fender top ones of the past 👍
