Damn bro I thought it wasn’t possible for someone to go this far with this project cause the galaxy railways, harlock, or the galaxy express series aren’t popular and not many people know about it. And I like how your putting your heart into this project and not just build it for content for example the many details you put on it and I hope you keep making different other trains from the galaxy railway universe

Thanks! I really appreciate the compliment! This is purely a passion project for me since I'm a fan of a lot of Leiji Matsumoto's work, I've been wanting to do this for a couple years now 👌 I wanted to get all the details right. So far I've made the GE888 train (the funky american styled 4-4-0 from galaxy express) and soon enough I will be making GE999!

All you need now is a custom sound chip for big ones whistle! Though that would be crazy expensive, you did a great job!

Their is a way to do it, it's not too expensive, basically an MP3 player based sound board ($60) that can have 5 custom sounds installed, I plan to install one in the loco and have the whistle, and a few additional sounds from the anime 😎👍

This is freaking amazing! This was my first anime and to see big one in O scale is a dream I never thought anyone would tackle. Points to you and keep up the awesome work! Would love to see more Galaxy Railways customs if ya ever decide to pursue this more!

Thanks!! It was a fun project to do, galaxy Railways wasn't my first but it's up there! So far I'm the only one who's done it on KZfaq at least. Currently I'm working (at my own pace) the passenger cars and eventually the main battery car. In the future I would love to make an o scale Galaxy Express 999, I've seen O scale c-62 locos (made in Japan, brass) someday I'll find one 👌🔥

This is awesome! I've been tossing around the idea of converting an early Genesis or Rivarossi BB into Big One for a while now...Time and a lucky cheap engine will tell if I can get it knocked out! Glad to see you bring this to fruition!

@@SCL3618 I think so, however most of them could probs be easily made in PS or a similar program.

Sorry for the late reply! The decals were cut from screenshots from the anime, printed on decal paper and applied to the loco, I forget what exact program I used to size it up I'll have to look and see, in the future I might make available custom Big One decals available for free for everyone to use.

Something cool you could do to Big One in the future is add it’s NEO redesign, but this is the best one you’ve done so far. It’s truly the best engine of Galaxy Railways!

Thank you for the kind compliment! I have future plans to make a seperate Neo redesign locomotive, utilizing a spare boiler shell I have on hand, and swap shells whenever (cheaper then buying a seperate loco)

That is freakin' awesome and one of the best O-Gauge customs I've ever seen by you! Although I've noticed some details left out like the pop valves that were near the smoke stake. Do you plan to include the corridor doorway on the tender later on when you do the passenger cars, plus the rail-gun, and make custom figures after?

Thanks! Yeahhh I forgot to add those valves, next video I have the loco in it have them! I've thought about adding the corridor on the back, I'll wait till I have the sound upgraded before I tackle that. Currently I'm working on passenger cars as I write this comment! The gun car too will be a future project! Stayed tuned for when I make video on that!

@@Simba-1996 not just that, but the whole take off sequence seen in the anime! Definitely the whistle heard in the show as well, I have to teach myself how to change the sounds but theirs videos on KZfaq on how to do it. I would love to make a GE 999 train, I haven't decided if I should find one of those Japanese made brass O gauge C-62 locomotives that are out there or to Kitbash a C-62 using a c-62 model kit and a Lionel semiscale Hudson chassis. Whatever comes first I guess 😎

Amazing build! Did painting the drive wheels affect electrical flow at all, or did you use a special kind of paint?

Only the rims on the front were painted, the tires weren't painted since it would come off over time (and dirty my track or my clubs track).

It's rather stunning In person, the best part is people seeing it and not knowing what it is, I get funny looks 😂, I've been planning a 999 loco but unsure how to tackle it, I know there are O gauge brass C-62 locos out there (hard to find) if I ever come across one I'll be on business! My other plan was to Kitbash one using a Lionel semiscale Hudson (like a lionchief loco) and make a custom body or something. All in due time I guess.

@Otaku Railfan I have a friend who made an O gauge 999 by taking a postwar Lionel Hudson, such as a 665, and swapping its front with a postwar Pennsylvania front. Just add on the smoke deflectors and some custom paint, should work pretty well.

I'm going to do something similar with a MPC reissue of the 2055 hudson and customize the locomotive to look like a JNR C62 as close as possible 😎👍

When I would test the loco before it was finished it many asked what was I doing with it, once I explained to a few of them they thought it was awesome or odd! Just wait till I have the whole train there! XD

Hello Otaku Railfan. My name is BirdTrainExpress 2020. And I have watched your videos since 2011-2012. I always liked to watch the 2 Echo Classic Rail train videos and the Scientific Toys Silverado Express train before it disappeared afterwards. I am interested in G-scale trains and recently HO scale. I collect LGB, Bachmann, Piko and other electric sets. I also really like the battery range like New Bright, Echo, Scientific Toys, and the lionel g-gauge stuff. I would post videos of them on my channel, but due to KZfaq’s broken FTC and COPPA management that’s really setting people off, I will be moving to Vimeo. Awesome job on the Big Boy One. It looks exactly like the show. I also like the Lionel LionCheif stuff. But their really expensive, so I only have one of them. Also, welcome back.

Luckily I only do KZfaq for fun and don't upload a lot so I'll stay here (for now unless they change more in the future) the rules are getting harder latley, wow 2011 I forgot I've been on that long 😂 sounds like your just like me I like a little if everything and collect quite a bit (I have no brand loyalty at all) Lionchief I'm not a big fan of manly since I'm mostly a conventional operator but I do have some lionchief sets, the locos I feel are rather expensive but hell Lionel is getting to expensive 😂 ahh yes the battery G scale trains always been a favorite of mine! Still have them all and operate them! Yes Big One was a fun project! Stay tuned for more like it 👌

That's awesome! I've seen a lot of people make an N scale version, both the season one and season 2 variations! You would also be able to have the accurate cars from the anime as well. When I decided to make an O scale Big One I would use one of the cheaper semi-scale big boys since it's more affordable for me. If someone customizes a scale/legacy one that would be awesome to see 😎

Yoooo I remember that video! And you're alive! It's great to see that galaxy railways isn't dead yet. I await the matching coaches and fighter coach! I actually made an ho big one out of a revell as well, however it's incredibly dated. Perhaps I'll take it out and redo it.

@@BlaxlandRidge3 I'm going to use a junker MTH Railking caboose as the base, then basically build a superstructure around it based on the design seen in the show, that will take some time to do but will be worth it on the end, I'll do that after all the passenger cars are finished 😁

Thanks! There is a brass model made in Japan during the 1960s-1970s, offered in either 2 Rail or 3 rail but they are pretty rare. I've bid on a few to no avail. I kitbashed a basket case Lionel 8206 locomotive into a somewhat close looking semi scale C62.

@@otakurailfan Interesting. I've kicked around the idea of finding a plastic model kit and motorising it, or making a cardboard C62, just haven't had much luck making cardboard trains that'll run on O gauge track.

Thanks! I appreciate the compliment. At the time this video was made I did not have passenger cars, I later on custom painted passenger cars for the locomotive, they are shown in later videos.

This is probably easy cuz all you got to do is take big boy give it the gb00001 name plate on the smoke box store add the Galaxy railways logo in place of the Union Pacific one and then repaint the tender and then you're good to go.

Big One is doing ok, the main battery car is pretty much finished, the turrets still have to come off on the sides when running on certain layouts. Currently planning to replace all the decals on the train with all new ones that look better.

The smokestack was copper tube, headlight was a Lionel 0-8-0 headlight. Everything else you see was scratchbuilt by me 👍

Terminator fan2003 the whistle isn’t very good, this particular railking big boy doesn’t have a sound system , only an electronic whistle which is incredibly dated hence why it wasn’t heard in the video. However within the next few weeks I’m sending Big One out to be upgraded to full protosound 3 with all the bells and whistles so it will be quite the change! I’ll make a comparison video in the future once the job is complete :D

@@Terminatorfan1984REAL about a year ago I got a lot of 9 Lionel baby Madison cars cheap, they will become the passenger cars for Big One. After that I will make the main battery/gun car using a broken MTH Railking caboose as the base.

That's quite the choices! I said that for years too about making an O gauge Big One, that's why I decided to go for the Railking version, it was more in my budget range, and could run on tighter track!

@@kdtrproductions4983 this particular locomotive only has an electronic whistle, since it's one of the first ones MTH produced, however I'm going to send Big One out to have a new sound system installed (MTH protosound 3) it will be pricy but worth it!

VERY IMPRESSIVE. You turned MTH's junk into a treasure. I'd never risk my Lionel version but if I were to get a Big Boy from Mike's Trash House, I'd probably do the same thing. Is it possible to rig up a different sound effect for the whistle? If so I'd change it too.

Thanks! Lol the roasts made me laugh too hard 😆 currently the loco has that elderly electronic whistle, however I'm having the loco upgraded to protosound 3. I picked the mth version since it was cheap and I happened to find one at York, the price was perfect!

@@otakurailfan I'm glad Mike's Train House is now out of business. It's hard to support a business that's as ruthless as MTH was to the company that it split from. Give me a Lionel, a Weaver, or anything else except Mike's Traitor House. Which is now shut down, gone forever! The hobby will never be the same now that that traitor is forever off the market.

A vision line Big Boy exceeds the budget I had in mind for this project. Even if I owned a vision line big boy I wouldn't have modified it into Big One, since it's a very expensive Locomotive, I'd leave it as a regular Union Pacific Big Boy. Passenger cars would have been triple the price as well. Also I planned to run this at club events on our modular layout, which is meant for semi-scale trains. The Railking Big Boy (or Lionel's Lionchief big boy) is much more suited for this kind of project.

I might tackle another Galaxy Railways loco one day! I think my next ideas were Vega platoons "ironberger" or the Galaxy express 999 train. Time will tell!

Nope I always planned to make the original season 1 Big One since that's my favorite version, however one day I might tackle on making the upgraded season 2 Big One since it's such a cool design.

@@otakurailfan from my short research 999 is a 4-6-4 Hudson with an 8 wheel tender. Does that help?

@@chaselaurence8783 yup! 999 is a JNR C-62 class locomotive, which is Indeed a 4-6-4 Hudson! I've been debating how to build it in O scale, I know their are o scale brass models out there but they are expensive and hard to find. Other trains within the universe I have to see!

Good observation! I did paint it at first but after handling the locomotive the paint wore off, I have to think of a better permanent solution

Otaku I think you should look up "ho scale big one" and on one of the pages the is a 3d printed version of big one"s front of the boiler along with the lamp next to the Sirius Platoon Logo. It looks just like the boiler of big one it includes the modified funnel and the thing behind the funnel in the 3d print actually. You can order it. Edit: oops! I forgot this was a o scale big one!
