helped alot, im a freshman at edgewater high and im looking to continue playing center through high school. one thing i suggest is, hold your thumb along the laces, opposed to your fingers. it helps get a better grip when the ball is wet or sandy, etc. and another thing i learned is an alternative for learning to long snap. widen your base, alot. and lower your but, so if your snapping to a place kicker. that ball will go lower than normal, it decreases the margin for error. anyways hope this helped someone. if anyone wants a demonstration or further tips ill be glad to help.!

@Jay-kx5cb2 жыл бұрын
@@yrgtay6655 Yeah, I know it's tough at first. Eventually you'll know how to do it and get the ball to the quarterback right. Once you do it'll just be muscle memory. One important price of advice is not to think about it too much because when I did that I started snapping all over the place. Once you get that muscle memory just fire it back there and focus on blocking, because that's your main duty as a lineman afterall

I teach my centers to go up and back with the ball very quick Motion up and straight back. This Takes away the ball drag and creates a better spiral. I understand what you're doing to Levy a ball drag is putting The ball on the nose But that is not very realistic because in my league you would be called off sides every snap . I have been coaching youth football for 12 years nowSo I do understand that in the lower levels most officials will allow for the center's head to be over the ball but when you get into the higher levels you can no longer do that.
@Southernguitar7411 ай бұрын
That’s true. My son plays center in 10u and nose over the ball is offsides.

I see a few things I disagree with in this video. 1. Centers back is too flat and that will compromise a players ability to fire off the ball rapidly and maintain good pad level. In a perfect world we want an offensive lineman's back to have around a 30-40 degree bend with his head up to see whats in front of him. 2. Feet are pointed straight forward. Naturally as offensive lineman we want to establish the point of attack as quickly as possible without inviting defenders up field. With the feet pointed slightly outwards (11 and 1 o clock) it allows the athlete to open up his hips increasing more lower body stabilization. 3. Touching up on lower back alignment and and foot placement in terms of a players stance, the final piece to the puzzle would be to slightly bend the knees inwards. With the proper back alignment/ foot placement (Slightly over shoulder width and pointed outwards) and knee bend this allows the hip flexors to be much more engaged. Once the player fires off the ball his pad level will be better once contact is made, because of the inwards bend in the knees and foot angle alignment he will be forced to use the insteps of his feet to drive through comfortably instead of using the balls of his feet and possibly getting caught leaning. 4. Im not trying to sound like an asshole or anything either. I will say that this instructional video is spot on when it comes to the actual snapping portion of it.

Again, when you start talking about degrees and small details like that, you're over coaching. Everyone's bodys are different. After the basic components of a stance are built - and they can move correctly...leave them alone. You sound like every other coach, trainer "expert" who justifies their existence by over correcting. The fact that you would mention to a youth football player...let alone a professional to have his back at 30-40 degrees demonstrates this...what, do you get out a protractor and measure?
@davidrojo93946 жыл бұрын
You can teach this stance in 5-10 minutes and incorporate it into your everyday drills. Players being in the youth level means absolutely nothing. Ive taught this stance to players that are 6 years old to players that are 20 lol. Not saying I'm an expert. But these are small details: rotate your feet out a little bit, bend your knees in, big chest, butt down, see whats in front of you..... thats literally it But your'e right I must be some scum bag that justifies my existence on over coaching because I teach a good stance. Sorry if me simply explaining the details as to why those tiny little coaching points are important seemed to make you feel threatened. It's not like you have to teach the stance for an entire week explaining each an every reason why they have to fix their stance.
