I am grown up with AR songs during my teenage. I should say i hated IR songs during my teen and fell in love with the fresh music and sound of AR. I stayed with AR for a long long time. But as time passed by i started realizing the genius and divine quality of IR. Nothing soothes likes his songs. Nobody has experimented like him in his times. The range and the madness in his orchestration is unparalleled. He turns a solo violin into a killing machine. The strings man!!!! Now I have become a slave of his music. I still love and admire AR music and adore them. But IR is simply divine.

There are no real music directors at the moment. Ilayaraja is the last real music director we have. IR is the greatest. With his BG the movie will change dramatically. I would like IR sir may use his old movie tunes in new Hindi movies, not sure it may happen or not, but if it happens I'll give my life to IR sir.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

IR is one of a kind, because no single Musician experimented and mastered in so many genres as he is, and with such a volume and sheer numbers and quikness with perfection. The stunnig part about him is his Orchestration and BGMs .They are instinctive and everyone feels that if there is a music in real life for such a scene.. it is that. He connects..the audience.. his music acts even before the actors. It creates mood that will kill you for a life time and you can never forget it! Makes you travel in time, love laugh, pain every single emotion you name it he has it. He creates the mood of Rain, happieness, lullaby, Love, Romance , pain, Youth, Tease, Comedy! He is a master of Guitar, Violin, Key board, His thumping energy in trumpet 🎺 Percussion, Folk, Flute..Man😅 If I mix a whole bunch of top 10 world musicians and top 10 Indian Musicans..still there will be room to fill his volume of genres he mastered! Raja sir ❤

Ilayaraja can bet with his songs ,the movie is a silver jubilee hit.whereas no composers in our Bharath,including ARR., have anyone can bet? IR composed 6 songs sheet, he challenged the directors ,only full pack of songs to a single movie,Director R.Sundarajan narrated a story for those songs :movie vaidegi kathirenthaal,which was silver jubilee hit,Shiw us one music composer whom can make a flop movie to block buster hit. Only IR has that ability.

@@shansenani Music is not only about versatility. It's about details, staging, stereo separation and lot more. All of which is where Harris excels at and others like Arr or ilayaraja can't even come close. He is right in saying that's his signature. Have a look at his clips about his recent Malaysia concerts. No other Musicians can bring in the vibe like how Harris does.😊

Zubeida was a masterpiece. There is a song called 'main albeli' i was in class 10 very young age of teen'. I always thought and believe that this song was made for me. My mother and my friends always used to laughed at me makes fun about me by saying 'u fool girl mr. Rahman don't even know u he don't even know u exist in this world'. I always said them every beautiful things never got to b spoken so i m beautiful and i m exclusive. Ha ha ha i know this is childish but it is true. Thanks #o2india i relived the moment. Sir ARR music always been in my moments of life. Yes i do hv many music sheets for expressing my feel on my life moments... Thank you Sir ARR..

Honestly, Rahman is good, but Ilaiyaraaja is out of this world. We are talking here purely from the music critic and the music connoisseur’s perspective. The discussion about individual idiosyncrasies based on the difference in personalities is only of interest to the fans. We can’t say that Federer and Nadal are greater than Djokovic because they got more support on the tennis court while playing.

If you put both thorough OCC(originally created compositions) ,both are arrangers(sound managers)and not composers. Raja was prolific,like a factory,Rahman knew how to harness technology. Both however contributed immensely to make music a primary identity of a film. From a legacy point,Raja's composition will endure in long run simply because he kept to the role of words and singers,while Rahman diluted both to a level of irrelevancy

This is the biggest pile of horseshit ever. Ilaiyaraaja has tonne of original compositions to his name, and is a composer par excellence. Easily amidst the best film composers in the world. That being stated, every musician seeks inspiration-including Rahman-and just because ilaiyaraaja is heavily influenced by the works of Bach, doesn’t mean they aren’t original. Ilaiyaraaja’s ethos is to collate different genres of music together and allow them to co-exist in harmony; Tamil folk, Carnatic and western classical primarily.

Moment of the Day could be more apt if it is Rahman’s silence when whole Kadhalan music or bgm gets deleted as this series is about Arr, though this episode also covers Ilayaraja to some extent. He could have talked a bit more abt H. Sridhar but this incident was the best and yet the music broke records like no other and till date remains to be one of the best ARR albums!! What he said about Ilaiyaraja too was fascinating and I also heard that Isai Gyani writes music notation explicitly like no other musician during his times. While Isai Puyal’s working style is quite opposite to him as told by Naveen and also what Mani Ratnam revealed in the first episode of this series itself! But really the Kadhalan incident is so scary to happen to anyone as it highlights the down side of modern technology and how things get deleted and lost in no time while it may still take time for things to create no matter how advanced the technology becomes!

I read that ARR had composed music for Govind Nihalani's "Drohkaal" when the computer crashed and all the music was lost. "Drohkaal" would have been ARR's Hindi debut had that not happened. Since then I'm sure he has implemented more robust data management and redundancy to prevent such disasters.

In the journey of music production, ar rahman is a co passenger at driver seat. Not a driver. Being co passenger, one can enjoy the company of others, crack jokes share food and make the journey memorable. But just being a driver, should concentrate on driving. So being a co passengers, arr comforts his musicians yet he knows how to ride to the destination to generate great music. This is the difference between arr and any music director whom i know.
