Perhaps (even if for you) there is some historical relationship brought about by what others have told you or shown you. It's clear that so many people feel sadness when they see fellow human beings in desperate situations the result of some internal compulsion (such as narcotics addictions), emotional turmoil in relation to relationships or worse, those existing in a societal war zone and ignorant of the fact that they are.
