RIP Mr. Steele. Congratulations on your posthumous induction into the Oakland A's Hall of Fame. Even though I'm a die hard SF fan, I grew up in the East Bay and remember you as the PA announcer. Truly this man was the voice of God.

One of my best memories of the Coliseum remains to this day the time I won a raffle at a game and Roy announced my name over the P.A. System. His voice was so strong but soothing and it was the closest i'd get to that childhood fantasy of been a pro ball player announced to the crowds lol.

Thank you for making this and honoring Roy, Brodie! He will be so greatly missed! 💔😢 His voice is synonyms with A's baseball. My thoughts are with his family and devoted A's fans everywhere. His voice has been part of the Coliseum experience and my life for 36 years. Its so hard to accept he is gone! 😢

@@rforrester553 Hi R, Lee Leonard Sports Radio Service tell him that we sat together at the table often with Louie who ran the A's media lounge in the 80s and early 90s there were two other A's employees who sat there too I see there faces but can't remember their names. One of the guys took over for Louie but in recent years a woman is now the cashier in the media room. Also let Roy know I see Dick Callahan often in the pressbox after A's games and during his run for a cup of coffee between innings. Your grandpa, A's media group and the organization couldn't have been nicer. Say hello to Roy for us.

12:30 as the man of Steele , channeled on to the Joe DRT show ! Its neat to meet all these legendary voices ! Finding my way, also lead me to a realization of the many uses of my own voice. I always wondered how i might sound as an announcer ! 😂 Its funny because i typed "Ron Farely " who is an announcer , but Chris Farley popped up , then , Roy Steele ! Who's next ?? 😂 See you all, at the ballgame ! ❤ #rojoforever !

Roy Steele was the best. 'The guy in New York', as referenced by a player in the video, great as well, was just a tad pretentious, in my opinion. Roy's style was free of that, and is the gold standard for PA in baseball. Really sad to see, and hear, what's become of the PA role in modern-day baseball, and all sports for that matter.
