Oakland is a very dangerous place, that area there in Oakland is so horrible that it makes you feel so emotional distressed, as you see the criminals constantly running red signal lights and very noisy motorcycles and ATVs in the streets racing and running lights and stop signs all day long. Loud music, loud cars with no mufflers and much more, the place seems like a zoo with crazy animals totally out of control and killing each other and robbing other people and business. That place is worse than some Thirdworld countries on the planet. My company has a location in San Leandro which is 1 mile from the heart of the craziness where they closed Dennys, in and Out burgers and many more.

The people having to pay a US $500.00 towing fee is nothing but legalized extortion.

Theft over 500$ punishible by losing a fuckin finger, we'd start solving problems real fast.

I used to watch a show based out of Australia where a dude would drive around picking up abandoned vehicles and his truck would crush it right then and there and he would stack them on the flatbed and move on...where are those businesses? It is CA so they probably have a law saying people cant do that but there are people who will clear these out.

Oakland and los Angeles have gone down down. Opposite of the transformative days of 60s n 70s - black panthers. Brown berets, american indian movement. Anti war free speech n we had winning sports teams - john madden raiders, A's and golden state warriors. Its a different day. Oakland looks like a border town where anything goes n selfishness. SMH

I was born and raised in Oakland,and im 59 years old and i work in Oakland twice a week,and i cannot believe what i see,not only NUMEROUS stripped cars but the trash heaps and homeless encampments ARE NOTHING LESS THAN SHOCKING!🤦

I went to a couple sideshows back in 2005. Back then it was mostly done on late nights. We got off the freeway in east oakland and yiu can see all the tire smoke through the streets and smell the burnt rubber. It was absolute chaos with cars driving up sidewalks and it goes block to block. Its not just on a intersection. It is literally hundred of people driving throughout the city doing donuts and driving like morons. There was only 2 cops seen everytime I went. Oakland has always been a dump. That California Love video is somewhat of a documentary and nit just a music video

I had a truck stolen off my property and the police said it was a civil matter and hung up on me.

The one thing I don't regret as an Oaklander is I didn't voted for mayor, Sheng Thao. I voted for another mayor candidate who came in second place. I don't remember his name right now. I wish he won. Maybe things would have been a lot better than it is now.

I love how everyone blames the mayor, even though this problem has festered for decades and she's been the mayor for just over a year...people were calling for her ouster two weeks after she took office...it's f'in ridiculous. I agree with Mr.LBoyd completely, 14k abandoned cars !? This state should absolutely try to recover the cars #1 to original owners #2 repair and recoup by selling them. #3 even donating them to charities etc. is better than just letting sit and rot and be a drain to the tax payer.

Once things creep up to schools you need to get the heck out. No turning back once they stop caring about elementary schools and the children in them.

That's because the car thieves know that oakland police don't process the cars for evidence or make any attempt to arrest & convict these criminals. A chop shop at the lot by home depot & high street has been operating with impunity for years. U saw how the elected rep driving the car was so scared that some thief might be in a gang or have a gun. We have swat, US marshals, the national guard, but they refuse to use them.

Usually at least further north where i live abandon vehicles in that condition are held for 30days if the owner doesnt claim them they get sold to a huge vehicle dismantler in the south of oakland

Oakland was once a bustling and happening place to be, and most people there, especially BFS who CLAIM it today, have NO IDEA of its rich HISTORY that BFS put ON THE MAP! Oakland has the BEST water in the bay area, AND it's also by the water, with a port, that's WHY everyone wants to be there and the political consensus today, is to encourage BFS, the few that remain there, to give it UP and go somewhere else! The completion of I-580, is the product of a promise that WASN'T KEPT to BFS, who sacrificed their homes they worked HARD for to make it possible, and MANY lost their LIVES when they complained about it, giving rise to the Black Panther Party for Defense. Whenever I pass through Oakland, I shed a 😢 because THIS is what I think of!

This is an a great concern because it’s not in every city that this goes on in California. It’s rare that most California’s will even run into this problem and though car theft is a major issue. It’s rare people see the end results. This is news to a lot of people in California. Oakland. has been downtrodden for quite a while that’s no secret. California ranks first in the nation when it comes to car thefts, followed by Texas and Florida. Georgia is seventh in the nation I believe top 10 for sure anyways.

Just getting through the OAK airport was difficult, especially airport security.

All the tow companies and everyone involved get paid. The reason is because the cost of living. You can only afford to live here if you make 200k after taxes. Those in tech and medical who couldn’t afford SF and Sj areas moved to Oakland pushing rents up while the people from Oakland can’t afford to live there plus the landlords raise rents no control. All these folks talking either don’t live in Oakland or they are the few who make enough to stay. They forgot they used to be poor people to but lucked up and got a baller job and now they think they better than everyone. The tow companies been changing the laws to make money since the 80’s. I know I grew up in the TOWN Oakland. No one talks about all the money they make in fees and resale plus charging the owners.
