Despite San Francisco's beauty, the city's neighboring suburbs on the opposite side of the bay present a strikingly different landscape. Oakland, a city with a population of 400,000, is notorious for its poverty and high crime rates. However, in a rare move, the Oakland police have agreed to allow television cameras inside their department.

I’m from Oakland, California and I’ll never forget my first time working E14. I was only 15 years old, I was a sophomore at Berkeley High School. I got lured into the lifestyle by a pimp that was way older than me, he pretended to be my boyfriend in the beginning. I wish I had got popped by the police as a minor but unfortunately I never got popped until I was 18 years old. I actually got caught up in the sting operation in 2014 that was in this documentary. I’m 26 years old now, I relocated to Texas to start over. I’m pregnant with my first child and I’m currently in college pursuing my RN. This documentary opened up a lot of war wounds that I thought I had healed from but as most of us girls know, you’ll never really fully heal from the pain, trauma, and abuse you suffered in the game. Just wanted to share a lil bit of my story, hopefully this finds the right person or people and gives them a bit of hope. You can make it out and beat the odds. It’s rare that you hear success stories but I am living proof that you can get out of the game and live a healthy, happy, normal life. I see myself in all of these young girls and I pray that God will use me and give me all the tools and resources to help rescue these babies from this lifestyle! I can’t wait until the day I’m able to come back to my hometown and start a non-profit organization that will help these girls leave the streets and transition into successful young women. Thank you for reading and God bless🤍

Don't blame YOUR horrible choices on anyone else.... YOU made the decision, and YOU got into the game. Yep, pimps are punks, but SO are whores. Damn. I moved to Oakland (from Houston,) in 2006. What stood out and shocked me the most was all of the very young girls lining the streets. That hurt my heart so bad, thinking about what they were going through and knowing that I could get hurt trying to help them. I often wondered where these girls came from, where their parents, and how they ended up there. I was on the verge of becoming an Oakland police officer. I decided that I had too big of a heart to be coworkers with cops. I joined the military instead.🤷🏽‍♀️🥲

@@kuwatsinango_1019 You mean the poor ones who get caught on camera are Black. Trust me, the teenage girls Jeffrey Epstein was getting had a contact. Ghislaine Maxwell apparently was not his realtor. Allegedly, Donald Trump at least once solicited the services of a couple of now famous sex workers. The infamous Heidi Fleiss was called a "Madam", but she was doing exactly the same thing pimps do for her workers. Except her clients were very high end. For people with money, their connections are the street where they find what they want. They invite children they're going to rape to exclusive parties or posh hotel rooms instead of back alleys and soccer mom cars. And when caught, the weapon they carry is the deadliest: a high priced lawyer's phone number. This is why we never hear about them or know their names and faces.

I love how elaborate their tracking system is & they are constantly monitoring these predators when they are released from prison. It's great to see they are employing men & that are intelligent & tough as nails when need be to work in setting up & taking these disgusting men who look to hook up with a minor or pimps looking to recruit underage girls into custody & interrogating them before throwing them in jail. It's too bad that police didn't get tough when gangs first erupted decades ago & now there's thousands. Only if they had mandatory sentences when gangs first came to the attention of authorities or even now have the ability to take them down or take them in a back alley! Congratulations to everyone for saving thousands of trafficked young girls & sometimes boys to give them a safe place to live & counselors to help them rebuild their stolen childhood & live a productive happier life. These laws in US are made to destroy peoples lives, like you said, they're arresting dudes who after mutual agreement pay for sexx, they're charged, put in jail, and having record as sexual offenders lose their jobs, cant find jobs, lose their livelihood, while police and courts make their money., but unlike in US, in first World countries, like in Europe, prostitution is allowed, you have red districts, designated areas of cities, where you visit the bordells, you talk to a lady, who are tested on the weekly basis and can show you her health certificate. You pay, you do your thing and everybody is happy. US has brutal laws, and they're designed to destroy peoples future, it`s just a business, like all the Wars they had and will have.

See, the thing is these young black males in Oakland are also lured into the game and turned out by the OG's. It's a cycle that's taught by people who are "friends" and even family members. This basically replaced the dope game and they were all taught young to get money that way or rob. It's crazy looking at it from this view because people in the game don't view it the same as onlookers. It's really sad tho looking from outside in.😢

I lived in the small city of Alameda, where it has by far one of the lowest murder rates anywhere at a ratio of 0.07 per 100k people. That equates to one murder every 5 years or so. It’s almost safe as Japan in that category (maybe because Alameda is 30% Asian). Alameda is right next to Oakland, separated by three small bridges. So I go to Oakland frequently. I also went to college at San Francisco and worked there. So I’m going to give an unbiased option in both cites…and also chime in on this documentary, which I feel is very biased and ill-informed (or plain lying for o political agenda). Yes, Oakland is more dangerous than San Francisco, especially murders. There are more gangs in Oakland than San Francisco. Oakland has larger ghettos. But I immediately questioned the minute this video said Oakland was the second more dangerous city in America. This is not true. I read some other posts here listing stats, and that person is correct. Oakland’s murder rate is 17.1 per 100k people. Compared that to the actual deadliest city in America right now, St. Louis, which has a whopping murder rate of 69.4, that’s just bananas. That’s four times higher than Oakland. Here are other rankings right behind St. Louis; Baltimore, MD (51.1), New Orleans, LA (40.6), Detroit, MI (39.7), Cleveland, OH (33.7), Las Vegas, NV (31.4)…and you go down the list until you see Oakland ranked 18th.. So there are 17 other cities deadlier than Oakland. Again, what did this video start with? Oakland being the second most dangerous city, which is false. Obviously some hidden agenda going on here. While San Francisco’s crime has indeed skyrocketed, it’s not even in the top 20 of most dangerous cities. For all those “terrified” of San Francisco. San Francisco’s murder rate is 4.9 per 100k people. So much for San Francisco being one of the murder cities in America. One neighborhood in San Francisco is where most of the crime happens. The Tenderloin has 70% of the crime in the entire city. So news only focuses in this area. But most of San Francisco is relatively safe compared to other cities. Having said that, San Francisco ranks very high in property crime. There’s also a really bad homeless problem. Another thing about Oakland on how is being depicted in this video. It only showcases the ghettos. Yes, they are horrible indeed. But a lot of Oakland is actually pretty and picturesque too. The Oakland Hills are great, full of multi-million dollar houses. The district of Rockridge is hipster and upscale with safe shops and streets. Lake Merritt area is nice, Oakland is like any other American city, good and bad areas. It’s far from being a poor city. But yes, it has problems, just like the rest of America. Both red and blue states are equally good and bad. That’s my take. Far more accurate than the stereotypes. Peace.

My other brother lives in Sonoma County. Just saying that we all lived in the Bay Area for years, went to the City and Oakland all the time. My brother worked in Oakland. We never worried we knew the areas to stay away from. Anyway, they met friends at Jack London Square for lunch and when they went to their car, all the windows had been smashed out. The problem is that Las Vegas is actually deadlier than Oakland. American Cities With Highest Murder Rates (source: World Population Review): If you think Oakland is bad, compare it to other American cities, especially Murder rates: American Cities With Highest Murder Rates 2023: Note: A common misconception is that the cities with larger populations have the highest murder rates. New York City for example, has a population of 8.39 million people but with 300 murders and a murder rate of 3.4 in 2017, it doesn’t even make it into the top 50 cities. The twenty cities in the United States with the highest murder rates (murders per 100,000 people) are: 1. St. Louis, MO (69.4) 2. Baltimore, MD (51.1) 3. New Orleans, LA (40.6) 4. Detroit, MI (39.7) 5. Cleveland, OH (33.7) 6. Las Vegas, NV (31.4) 7. Kansas City, MO (31.2) 8. Memphis, TN (27.1) 9. Newark, NJ (25.6) 10. Chicago, IL (24) 11. Cincinnati, OH (23.8) 12. Philadelphia, PA (20.2) 13. Milwaukee, WI (20.0) 14. Tulsa, OK (18.6) 15. Pittsburgh, PA (18.4) 16. Indianapolis, IN (17.7) 17. Louisville, KY (17.5) 18. Oakland, CA (17.1) 19. Washington, DC. (17.0) 20. Atlanta, GA (16.7) St. Louis, Missouri has the highest murder rate of any US city of 69.4 murders per 100,000 people. In 2017, 205 people were murdered in St. Louis. So there are 17 other cities more violent than Oakland. Think about it the next time you are in one of them.

I'm Dutch and our police still has a general respect form the public. During the pandemic that dropped a bit because of the fact that loads of protests ended up in riots, after people requested people to go home or leave the area, mostly when darkness was about to set in soon. But people had to realize, they then were pushed away in another matter by military police, not your friendly local officer that really ARE very helpfull here in the Netherlands. Trust is high, not much corruption and people here should be thankful how good we have it. But they only see cut videos where someone seemingly is being beaten without doing anything. 9 out of 10 times theres more to the story. People telling they hate cops for giving out speeding tickets or other fines, sure that sucks, but it's you having that in control. Plus it's nice to know that you doing 130 km/h on a freeway (80 mi/h) where 100 km/h is allowed (65 mi/h) might be perfectly safe with all the free space around you at night, it's just a law and either you take the risk every now and then or not.

Yea the fact that young girls are being exploited and they're catching the pimps is good but if you are robbed the cops won't do anything, won't even show up these days, they'll do it by email. Oakland CA has been different for decades. It's just that you see it in a little different way. Oakland has a lot of flavors, varieties in people as well as economic variances. It's a fairly expensive place to live in, but there's pockets were it's not as pricey (Still expensive, but not as high for certain areas within the city. I haven't been there between approximately 3-5 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I'd have to say that I've appreciated the social aspects of Oakland over San Francisco the last several times I've visited. In the downtown area, I tend to like the restaurants better. I like the mixture of people better. Among other things. I actually thought about moving to both cities. But then, I decided not to for various reasons (Good and bad). Both cities have become increasingly more dangerous over the past years. So I prefer to visit them instead of living there. Either one, you have to be smart and always aware of your surroundings. No matter where you are...If you want to visit either place. Just park in continuously visually populated areas, streets.

I was 14 when I was forced, beat and raped into submission. 14 to almost 17. I'm 40 now. I went to the FBI it was after 911. Well my pimp took me to many states. The FBI agent in charge of that did NOTHING! I even gave him his real name, everything on a silver platter and would testify! They were basically just looking for a known pimp. I asked them if I can go to nursing school, they said " I don't see any issue"?? Well I finally went to nursing school later in life. I graduated at 31. Well....I couldn't take my nursing test because all the prostitute charges came up in different names and they knew I was a juvenile! I had to hire attorneys in different states and by the time everything was finalized through the courts it was 2 and a half years later! You have 1 year to take your test. I finally accomplished my dream and the FBI FUKED ME OVER! Back then they didn't give a shit. They litterally let a gorilla pimp, child rapist, sick piece of literal trash go. I know he probably still up to the same crap today. When I was arrested they knew I was young! I'm litterally to this day still traumatized!

Born and raised in Oakland! Nevertheless, Oakland is home. I have three daughters. Raise them all in Oakland it's tough but as a parent, the main goal is being a part of their lives. One went off to school in TX and the other two are in grade school. Thankfully for this documentary to show me a different perspective of da town.

With all the violent crime and lawlessness plaguing the city, they have fifteen cops waiting to pounce on a guy who is merely trying to get laid. Ridiculous.

My Dad grew up in Orange county. His twin still lives in San Francisco. My Dad told me you couldn't pay him to live in California these days. Luckily, we don't.

Back in the 1980's, Oakland used to advertise itself as 'The Hub of the West'. A place where any family could set up roots, send their kids to good schools, plenty of public transportation and a growing economy. Today, Oakland is the Rusty Hubcap of the West.

I am actually surprised OPD has manpower to conduct these operations considering all the other more dangerous "street crime" that is going on.

Wasn't Oakland (and a large portion of the east bay) police involved with their dispatchers underage daughter? Huge scandal!! They also take reports via the internet nowadays, instead of by phone, I'm told. 🤣 history of great policing 👌
