Day 2 of my solo build.
I'm aching after digging all day yesterday, and as I'm typing I can feel the pain😂
Today I got the base in ready to be insulated and boarded.
I think ive included everything in the video and can only apologies for the audio, stupid mic's are playing up! Ill order some new ones this week end.

I use to watch an episode of “traffic cops” for 1 hour, now I watch “Oakwood garden rooms” 🔨🔨 instead. This is great for people to watch, including myself who build Modular buildings for a living 👍👊❗️

Really liking your videos mate. I came here for the tacking side of things, I’ve just started dry lining and your past videos which included plaster-boarding have been a huge help. Without doubt. I’ve even gone and got myself a pica pencil just like yours lol. Any more tips and tricks relating to plaster boarding during this build will not be over looked. I feel a good 30-40% better in myself after I saw your video😂

You’re absolutely right about the washers. Washers only help the nut being tightened. Once a nut is forced down into the wood, the wood will swell back around the nut and it will never shake loose. Great videos by the way, better than any DIY build programs on terrestrial telly 👍🇬🇧

Very good that! Thought you might use square plate washers & then bolt it down to make it extra secure so the nut bites to the max. Save the nut biting into the wood as well. Obviously you know best 👍🏻 keep up the great work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Another great presentation Liam, well done on taking the time to show stage by stage the build from scratch. Began my own last year on my own, thanks to your presentations and hope to finish it off later this year. Everything cost considerably more than I budgeted for for need to replenish the coffers for the windows and doors!

Found these today, first of all thank you for taking the time to make these. I think they're the best step by step instructional videos I've seen, very well done! And sounds like a proper Yorkshire accent too, which is even better! Question - what size channel do you use for the shoes? Struggling to find one that will fit 75mm internal dims. As a structural engineer from the other side of the Atlantic from you, I'm enjoying seeing the differences in construction methods and typical materials. I couldn't grasp why you do some of the things the way you do, but with a 2.5m height limit, it all makes much more sense. I also like the rod method for your foundation. simple to execute, low cost, high benefit. Great job. I am curious how you solved the 700mm slope difference on your other project though.

So I replaced my really old & really expensive stabilla levels a few years ago with some Stanley fat max levels.... I was pleased as they were good levels....however they didn't last long ...the accuracy started to go, so I replaced the fat max with a set of OX a little over 2 years ago. I am absolutely delighted with them... the quality & accuracy is first class.

No mate, we don’t go wider than 1.2 between rods, we’ve built all sizes

Liam, looking at building a 6x3.5m this year, which will have an internal partition for an office and the remainder as a gym. I’m thinking due to the weight of a multi gym and other machines the I should put in two mid 4x3’s with the threaded rods to give a bit more strength - what do you think?

Assume the ground is stepped down.... If at one end of the base the shoes are close to ground level but at the other end they're near the top of a full length rod, would you still be happy with stability/strength or would you switch to using piles? Great Videos but the way. Thanks

Can I use dry-mix concrete or even postcrete for securing the rods in the ground? I don’t have good access for a lorry and don’t own a concrete mixer. Cheers!

When you do the third side, just put the square on the m24 L or R and make your mark,you've measured your timber long, no need to do it by eye.....

Why do you cut the rods? Could you drill a hole through the floor and sole plat of the framing and tighten them down?
