I remember 2011 when it was a flex to make your arm numb by having 50+ silly bandz. It was a simpler time. Over ten years later, I have most of my original collection and I now use them as actual rubber bands.

I *hated* the Silly Bandz trend with my life man. Ah yes, what a great way to entertain an autistic child with… and office supply with a dumb gimmick to it. 💀 (I didn’t know about the origin story and now I feel even more abhorrent about this LOL) But that obvious didn’t stop me because I have an affinity for rare things. It doesn’t have to be expensive, just elusive. In came the rainbow bands. Someone had a ring shaped Silly Bandz and it was super pretty so I asked for it and they gave it to me. I loved it bc I was a dumb stupid child 😂 but my brother was even younger and even more petty so we got into an argument and he decided to flush my rainbow ring band down the toilet as revenge. Yes I cried. And yes I lowkey wanna get it back. 💀 Knowing that the idea was stolen for the sake of making cash and then on TOP of that they tried to make NFTs makes me lose respect for this shit even more. What a dumb, stupid, pointless, but honestly super aesthetic and nostalgic product LOL

I wish I was born a few years earlier so that I could fully experience these. I would have loved them. Just imagining what it was like when I was 13 (a year or so ago) and everyone traded gum for money instead.
