Well, you’ve made some good points but I’ll like to expand and clarify somethings to you. Most of these people are not true representative of the religion as most of their actions goes directly against the Quran and authentic sunnah. It is clear that music, musical instruments and singing are haram in Islam. This prohibition is supported with evidence from the Quran and the Sunnah. So, Inviting someone who is clearly a secular musician to the opening of a mosque is clear misguidance and ignorance. Most of these people do not give Allah his truly deserved honor, that is why they mix clear disobedience with their actions. They’ve placed this musician on a high pedestal above Allah and his rulings whereas Allah is far above what they associate with him. Quran 22:74 says “They have not shown Allah the reverence He deserves. Surely Allah is All-Powerful, Almighty.” Know, may Allah have mercy upon you that you’ve done well to highlight this issue as the prophet has commanded us to enjoin good and forbid evil. So do not relent, continue calling people to the true teachings of Islam with all your might and do not pay attention to those who have traded their Akhira for a portion of this temporary dunya. I advise you my brother, hold tight to the Quran, sunnah and the teachings of the righteous predecessors until death comes to you. The religion of Islam is backed by proofs and not by ancestry or what one sheikh or Alfa decides to do.
