@@newjersey7491 You're correct about the definition of a soldier, but in the US armed forces each branch is distinguished by their uniform, occupation, and title. You wouldn't call a Marine a soldier, because thats what you would call someone in the US Army. We are all technically soldiers/warriors, but we take pride in the title of Marine.

By him going back and shaking the Marine's hand he acknowledged him on a personal level, the man had the hardest job in the world and he could have had a million things on his mind but even in that brief moment he realized he forgot to salute the Marine and went back to let him know that he possibly forgot to salute him and shook his hand which was probably more appreciated than a salute.
