Күн бұрын

obi wan lands on Daiyu, and we learn this is a crime ridden world where secrets are kept, kind of like what happens on daiyu, stays on daiyu.
Obi-Wan speaks to Qui-Gon but gets nothing back, asking for guidance as a Clone Trooper, can be seen begging for credits. the Clone is a 501st trooper, this was one of the clones fighting at the jedi temple with anakin, later called Vader’s fist. They became obsolete to the emperor as palpatine didn’t care anymore for soldiers who could fight, but rather sheer army size, which is why he conscripted anyone to enlist in becoming a stormtrooper.
He doesn’t recognize obi-wan most likely because he’s drunk and doesn’t seem to be all there. The empire doesn’t want clones anymore, they want stormtroopers.
Obi-Wan asks a spice seller if she knows where his daughter is, and she says he’ll never find her again if she’s here. This gives us an undestanding of what this planet is like. It’s like nar shadda or something. full of crime, scum and villainy. She offers him different spice, kessel, glitterstim or felucian. Felucia is the planet we saw in revenge of the sith where aayla secura fell to the clones obeying order 66. She hands obi-wan a bottle of spice on the house, and leaves.
As he follows the boy who scams him to the fake Jedi, Obi-Wan discovers the little operation being pulled on people as Haja the fake Jedi pretends to mind trick pilots at the gate for credits. It’s all smoke and mirrors and magnets, as Kenobi exposes him. Haja agrees to help obi-wan find Leia, as he guides him to his next path. We get a breaking bad scene as spice and such are being created, where Obi-Wan causes a chemical reaction and leaves through another door. Approahced by a Zabrak, and a man, he fights them and he get a Johnny Lawrence Cobra Kai moment as he’s super rusty fighting in hand to hand combat. Still not using his force powers. The three nappers who got Leia hold obi wan at blaster point, as they recognize he’s just a man now, astonished a jedi can even bleed. Throwing the ball of spice the girl gave him, he gets out of there and rescues the apprehensive Leia who eventually trusts him.
Reva finds the drugged nappers and sets out to find Kenobi when she’s stopped by the inquisitors who are furious with her taking the child of an imperial senator’s child. Reva reveals that she found Bail Organa has ties to Kenobi from the archives. Obi-Wan fought alongside Bail in the Clone Wars on Christophsis and more so she thought that by taking his child, Kenobi would be called upon. The GI learn she’s doing this to gain favor from Vader as the 5th brother reveals. Grand Inquisitor explains she’s the lowest of them, and that she came to them in her lowest state. Her position is only solidified because of her abilities, but all the powers in the world won’t mask her true identity of being a former Jedi. they fight over Kenobi and we see how little respect Reva has for hierarchy and order. She never does what she’s told, she’s entitled and extremely abrasive. She orders a bounty on Kenobi by every bounty hunter on the planet. Sending a swarm towards him. To bring him in alive it seems.
as Kenobi moves around with Leia in cloaks, we see a droid that looks like 4LOM, this was a bounty hunter we saw in the empire strikes back. I’m not sure if it’s the same droid, but it certainly is the same species.
Leia sees the beacon with Obi-Wan’s photo, suspecting that Obi-Wan is behind her being taken all this time. She runs away and obi-wan seems to have trouble catching a 10 year old child. they make their way to the rooftops where Obi-Wan is shot at by one of the bounty hunters, and we get batman Reva doing force imbued parkour to get to Kenobi. She force pushes a beam just like we did in jedi fallen order, hopefully we see cal kestis.
Leia jumps off the roof and falls where Obi-Wan uses the force for the first time in 10 years and just barely saves her.
This to me was done really well, as he’s so rusty that something as simple as levitating little Leia was difficult.
Haja becomes a fan boy when he realizes Obi-Wan is the old Jedi Master from the clone wars, that he helps him by helping him find a way out of there. He gets beaten by Reva and she mind probes him like Kylo Ren did to Poe.
Obi-Wan and Leia have a moment together and he says she reminds him of someone, I think he’s talking about Padme, her mother. Some may think it’s about Satine, but I think it’s about Padme.

Ewan's acting when he finds out that Anakin is still alive just speaks a thousand words without him saying a single word. The ending aswell with time almost standing still and him with tears in his eyes saying, "Anakin..." full of vulnerability, regret and guilt and then Vader waking back up in the bacta tank almost looking like he's looking back at Obi-Wan connecting with him through the force and then the fade out with his iconic breathing. Fantastic direction, storytelling, build up and acting 👏 some of my new favourite scenes in the franchise now!!!

His mom only suspected it. Yes maybe the little girl can see where these men will dart and lunge before they do???? Maybe she can feel her cousins emotions in the force???? Anakin did it right before the Jedi council at her age. These kids are not being protected because the empire will kill them. They’re being protected because if palps finds out who they are he’ll get what obi wan screwed him out of on mustifar. And then it’s game over for any hope of a republic. Not if one of these kids are turned. They are as DANGEROUS as anakin was potential wise. Tell me I’m wrong when you read the eu bro. Luke pulls some feats. And it would be a long time before a rebellion could ever hope to stop a dark side Skywalker. That’s why it was ever called a new hope in the first place. Hope hangs on these kids. I have a theory on this. I think that the reason Obi-Wan struggles to use the force so much is because he has a mental block to it. He has cut himself off from everything that he and the other jedi stood for and has become a completely different person. I think he struggled to use the force that much because of the way he views himself.

When Reva tells him that Vader is alive, Ewan does such a great job of being in shock. He looks like he has a full on panic attack. I am curious to find out how this plays out between Reva and Vader later. I think we all know what happened to that clone trooper that figured out Vader was Anakin. This may be setting things up later for Vader to ruthlessly kill her. That would be ironic since she is doing all this to get his favor.

I know people disagree with him ever leaving tatooine and luke, but I do think it makes sense that he would do so for leia. In a new hope, i always found it a bit odd that leia would know obi wan, call him that instead of ben, and trust him so much to the point of leaving the death star plans with him and calling him her "only hope". Sure, bail probably told her about obi wan, but the way it plays out makes it seem like they actually know each other and have a bit of history.

If Leia knew Obi-Wan personally, then her holographic message to him plays rather awkwardly: "General Kenobi, years ago you served my father..." To get past this, Leia cannot learn his name. Thank goodness comments like this still appear from time to time, first of all his duty was to the skywalker children which is why he ends up leaving even if it's dangerous, also, the original trilogy had no context at all, which is why the prequels happened, some stuff is open to interpretation in ep 4-6, especially ep 4, thus, changes like leia meeting kenobi here makes a lot of sense because that would explain how she trusts him so much, it's just common sense, just because my father knows someone it doesn't mean i can trust him too, because i don't know him, and hearing about someone is not enough for me to put complete trust in an unknown individual for something important, and i guess it's the same with leia. Same with the vader and kenobi duel, there's certain stuff during their ep 4 duel and some stuff vader tells luke later on in eps 5 and 6 that can be interpreted the same way, as if they've met before ep 4 happened. People need to stop being so purist about certain star wars stuff, especially with stuff that's never been told before, they can add stuff to that and if it's done the right way there's no reason to complain, come on, i can understand people complaning about Bobf not being as good as it should've been for the character, i can understand people complaning about Disney's mistakes on their trilogy and about how dirty they did to luke, or about rey beeing too powerfull too quick (just like luke and anakin btw 😂) or not being a good enough character, but when it comes to fillin the gaps between the time periods, it's all left for interpretation and everything can happen. If it's done the wrong way? Okay then let's complain, until then let's just enjoy star wars

It's amazing though that despite what they did to the Jedi, Kenobi still finds it in his heart to help the Clone. I’ve just realised something HUGE please read this! In Season 2 episode 2 of Rebels, the emperor references that he does not know if obi wan is alive or not: “Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice could lead us to other lost Jedi” - The emperor “Like Kenobi.” - Vader “Perhaps, if he lives” - the emperor I think if Darth Vader had of realised way back in ‘Kenobi’ that Obi Wan is still alive, it now doesn’t make sense in Rebels for Palpatine to not know if he is alive or dead, unless Vader could somehow hide that information from the emperor without him finding out. Which is probably unlikely. So basically it retcons rebels a little bit

I give it an 8/10.. I liked it a lot. If I was going to nitpick I would say -Owen is too harsh.. in the originals he’s the one who tells Luke “maybe they mean Old Ben Kenobi” when clearly he knows exactly who Obi wan is. -All of the leia’s chase scenes were ridiculous but I enjoyed her attitude as a character. -The rooftop scene looked more like wire stunts than Force maneuvers. Other than that I’m not a hater of the new Star Wars and I have enjoyed all of the new shows and movies to an extent before reading and watching what everyone hates about them. I think everyone’s major complaint will be that last scene with Reva. I really think that the Grand Inquisitor should have been the one to tell Kenobi that Anakin was alive. When he fought Kanan, he was able to recognize him and who his master was just by the form he fought with for a few seconds. It would make sense that having fought Vader, he would be able to recognize remnants of Anakin’s modified form behind Vader. At the very least, he could have learned it from the Emperor. The reaction I think they wanted was, “What?! That’s insane! Didn’t see that coming.” Instead, my reaction left me asking “Why?” I doubt he’s dead, but it would really cheapen it if this Grand Inquisitor wasn’t the one we know of. It feels like Reva is being propped up from stabbing him and knowing who Vader really is. I definitely don’t hate her. I think the actress is doing great and I was interested in her ruthlessness in Ep 1. However, I question where her writing is going and the questions have me slightly worried. They seem to want to make her menacing as she cut off that girls arm quick in the first episode, yet the guy that fakes being a Jedi and helps Kenobi isn’t killed by her. I’ll reserve judgement for now, but I hope her character has more consistency in later episodes. I think they will explain a connection with Vader and her being a youngling in that first scene, so I hope it answers these questions in a satisfying way. Depending on how it’s done, it would be interesting if she was doing this to gain Vaders favor and to become Vader’s direct apprentice. Then she gets betrayed like Starkiller was in The Force Unleashed. I have enjoyed everything else immensely! The show is great so far! Also, I’m loving little Leia. Yes, the two chase scenes were a little silly, but she has that same cheeky personality that Leia has in the OT. In my opinion, the actress is killing it.

When Obi-Wan told Leia she reminded him of someone, a woman who was a leader who was strong and stubborn and died a long time ago, hell, as soon as the words "you remind me of someone" came out of his mouth, my very first thought was "Padme. She's just like her mother." Satine didn't even cross my mind, though she probably should have. And omg is Ewan just SO good in this. When he came face to face with the down-and-out clone trooper, you could FEEL the shock and horror and apprehension coming off of Obi-Wan without him even saying a word. He let us see that with just the haunted expression in his eyes. That one short scene completely blew me away. And then at the end, when we got that final shot of Vader in the bacta tank...aaadlkajd;lkadjflkasdjf GOOSEBUMPS. I don't think Reva is going to survive this series. I think for her this is an obsession; when she was doing her speechifying in front of Owen in the first episode, I said to myself, "This isn't just business for her. This isn't 'we gotta hunt that Jedi scum' Inquisitor stuff. This is personal for her." She's annoying, yes, but she's supposed to be; people who are chasing a single-minded obsession usually are. Yeah. A dream where a small but very vocal minority attempts to drown out the majority with their nitpicking and screaming about how much they hate all new Star Wars and anyone who likes it is wrong and doesn’t deserve to be called a fan. More like a nightmare if you ask me.

My friend who has watched Rebels (I haven’t gotten round to it) claims that there are two of same Grand inquisitors and the one in rebels is not the one in Obi-Wan Kenobi as he believes him to now be dead.. I know theres only one Grand inquisitor and I haven’t even seen rebels. I’ve seen snippets occasionally. Unfortunately my friend is one of these people who believes that he’s always right and everyone else is wrong. So it’s gonna be tough to convince him. But…. I’m loving all of Obi-Wan Kenobi and seeing Hayden’s eyes open fiercely in that bacta tank? Chills. Loving all the SwT content too. Thanks man

I think the Grand Inquisitor's 'death' may play into the end of the series. Agree that he's not dead, but close to death. Reva blames Obi-wan for 'killing' the Grand Inquistor, commands all if the Inquisitor's to find Obi. Then at the end if the series, we find out the Grand Inquistor survives, and she is killed for treason.

They hyped her too much. I have a hunch that she will gain some sort of favor with Vader and become his secrete aprentice because she has sith level ambitions and hate. Reminds him a bit of himself.

I don't think so grand inquisitor dies in the Kenobi Series, as Kanan killed him in star wars the rebels. And rebels take place 5 years before the events of A new hope and Kenobi is taking place 10 years before the events of A new hope.

Really appreciated them bringing color and dimension to the grand inquisitor. There was something about the scenes in Alderaan that rubbed me the wrong way and I definitely didn’t see the need to have Flea capture Leia. Kinda took me out of the moment. Chase scenes in general haven’t been done well by Disney. Loved the casting of Leia. Looking forward to Luke and maybe more Clones. Overwhelmed by the thought of Hayden’s return. Excited for more.

It also looks like the form of martial arts that the Jedi was teaching the younglings when Order 66 happened. It’s looks like a mix between judo and tai chi. Using your opponent’s momentum against them, rather than having an aggressive offense.

Honestly, i expected this to be 10 times worse. I give it a solid 8 out of 10. One of my favorite and yet most unexpected aspects of what we have seen absolutely being child Leia. In my opinion, the casting and the writing for her just fits the character like a glove. Above all, i feel they are truly capturing Obi Wan's grief in the appropriate way. He is traumatized by the events of the clone wars and Anakins fall and they've been portraying this perfectly, in my opinion. He truly is one of, if not the most tragic character in the Skywalker saga and has to cope not only with the loss of everyone he has ever loved, but also the festering guilt of, in his mind, bearing the responsibility for the state of the galaxy. Thus far i feel the writers are truly aware of the implications of his personal story and tragedy and i feel like it might make for a really solid series. The character development of Obi Wan in this era might be the biggest transformation he goes through, and until now, it feels like the writers are approaching this show in exactly that light. They could have cheaped out and not have involved Liam Neeson/Qui Gon Jinn, Temuera Morisson/Clones and Jimmy Smits, and above all Hayden Christensen but they havent. It seems like they are going the distance to really try to properly portray what actually would have happened to this character instead of just writing around pivotal plotpoints like his relation with Anakin and Qui Gon. I get that the show could never be perfect, and it already is showing some minor problems (Portrayment of the Inquisitor being by far the biggest imo) but as long as their loyalty to the characters is as consistent as it has been, i think it will make for a relevant and memorable page in the book of the Skywalker story. Personally, if only we will see Anakin flashbacks or episodes and how Obi Wan learned to become a force ghost by his master, id be more then satisfied. So far so good if you ask me.
