considering obi wan has been suffering from anxiety and ptsd for 10 years while Vader has spent that time honing his dark side abilities through pure rage, it's not super surprising that Vader could easily overpower obi wan once obi wan reconnects with the force we'll probably see a more balanced fight

Yeah, it makes total sense Annakin would kick his ass. _Just being_ in Annakins presence almost made Obi-Wan pass out. He only survived because he has allies. God knows what he would have been subjected to otherwise.

@@blaze556922 Not at all. Consider what Anakin's last 24 hours were like. All of that trauma that he didn't yet know how to focus. He had literally zero dark side training, and one could say his Jedi training was intentionally "neutered" to prevent his powers from exploding too fast. Anakin lost because his mind was everywhere but where it should have been. On the fight at hand.

I've been so confused why people think it's out of character for Obi to be so scared. Since Ep1 he has: Watched his Master die Watched tons of Jedi die Cut the legs off his student and brother, believing he killed him Watched Padme die and then took one of the kids Part of Obi Wan's time on Tatooine watching over Luke is also just him dealing with all of these tragedies. I don't care how powerful in the force you are, that much death, destruction and betrayal is going to knock you down. So what I expect is that he will rekindle his inner strength, leading to his inner strength and peace in Ep 4. But currently, I think this portrayal is bang on what I'd expect from anyone having to deal with what he has since Ep1.

Darth Vader was literally playing with him. Don't be so quick to be mad that we didn't see him slaying Obi Wan. STILL THOUGH, the mfer literally murdered half the town then burnt him in fire and then let him out of it BECAUSE.. it was too easy because and it didn't give him closure. It really gives a great contrast to how other lives like the one in the town are disposable.. BUT when it comes to Obi Wan, he needs it to be perfect! He needs Obi Wan to know, HE made the right choice. That takes besting a full strength Obi Wan, not the shell he currently is. The beauty of Vader is he NEVER has closure until Luke saves him. He is a painful character and through that, it was actually a really beautiful scene with much more to it than just sitting back and watching it for face value acting like we should've seen a Darth Vader abusing a shell of Obi Wan. That would never satisfy Vader, AFTER EVERYTHING.. This scene actually meant so much more with this outcome.. (Just my opinion)
@andythoby8935
@andythoby8935 2 жыл бұрын
I agree. My prediction is that we'll get a more emotional actual fight with a Sassier Obi Wan, saying that he still has much to learn, and an uncertain end to that fight where Vader could think that obi wan maybe didn't make it.
@leellama6362
@leellama6362 2 жыл бұрын
@@andythoby8935 Emotional, yes. But I don't personally think Obi Wan becomes more sassy as that comes with confidence. I think the only confidence he will gain is the thought that somehow Anakin is still truly alive. This relationship goes far deeper than any external emotion. I think we are about to see Obi Wan hit his lowest point. I think Qui Gon will make an appearance in this moment. From there the smallest sliver of hope will return and Obi Wan will learn the value of staying in touch with his true jedi nature. Fear is what Vader thrives on, but hope..? Hope destroys Vaders soul. (A major theme within star wars) So Obi Wan will find his hope, and through that find his strength against Vader.

Yes, I agree! It's like that saying Vader "Is playing with his food" plus tbh if you rewatch this episode, pay attention to Vader's actions as he walked through the village. Notice he didn't outright attack or harm the villagers UNTIL he most likely sensed Obi-Wan was watching/near! Vader isn't the type of person to act like Kylo (out of complete rage) he is still methodical and calculating. ALSO, the Inquisitors did mention Patience is key to hunting Jedi and I'm pretty sure Vader taught them that.
@sixeros4435
@sixeros4435 2 жыл бұрын
@@RiRiplays Yeah, it felt to me like he saw Obi-Wan/knew he was watching (he makes a short pause) and then started to kill the Villagers. As a demonstration to Obi Wan, as a way to harvest his feelings of Pain. And yeah, he wants a "fair" fight, to proove to himself that Mustafar could not happen again and that he could kill a full-powered Obi. Its not about the end goal of killing him, its about the process.

I actually think Haiden embodied Darth Vader perfectly, and shifted into this evolved role of his character seamlessly. I do think we'll see his face more, but I actually also enjoyed his acting IN the suit. Like the final scene where he was stopped from capturing Obi-Wan: I could really feel what Darth Vader was experiencing, and was 90% sure that whole squadron of Stormtroopers was about to die. But when he didn't, I could also tell that he was JUST BARELY holding back. I'm excited that he gets to really shine as an actor in a way he couldn't when Lukas was directing.

The cloaked Anakin figure I believe was just Kenobi's conscience manifesting his fears, rather than some creepy-ass force ability of Vader's as he's searching for Kenobi. Probably not the case, but perhaps this figure might even be Qui-Gonn trying to communicate with Kenobi but Ben is so caught up in regret and fear over Anakin being alive that Kenobi's twisting the feeling into something else.

On the Kenobi brother. I think it's to build on the idea of families. Obi Wan tells Vader "you were my brother, Anikan" and I think some weak memories of a real brother makes that statement more impactful. Because being taken from your family is hard and the Order becomes a family. And it also indicates shows how much Anakin's fear for his family led him to the dark side

Knowing that Hayden is behind the mask makes this Vader so special. I felt it when he was watching Obi burn.

Quinlan Vos showing up is gonna be soo dope!!! I hope he’s just as much a badass as he was during the clone wars!! But he is the same age as Kenobi or a little older so hopefully he’s in better shape than Kenobi.

I'm super ecstatic that Quinlan Vos survived Order 66! I've loved this character since the Republic comics. I have a Star Wars tattoo sleeve planned, and have his hilt on my forearm.

I read that in the original either empire strikes back or return of the Jedi, that uncle Owen was said to be obi wan Kenobi brother.

Quinlan Vos was never out of the canon anyway. Any Jedi we haven't seen a confirmation of being dead can return in future media.

There was a shot during their lightsaber duel where Vader was above him slamming the lightsaber down and kenobi is holding his saber up in defense… I thought that was a direct homage to the end of the duel with Luke and Vader in ROTJ before Luke cuts his hand off.

I have a feeling that the Jedi rescuing their own, renaming themselves, and going into hiding is similar to the Underground Railroad in real life, and it might be how we end up seeing Cal Kestie appear in Kenobi, as it would serve as a nice bridge between Fallen Order and Survivor.
