okay, so the black eyeliner isn't just for Anakin and his evil descent into the Dark Side. It seems that both characters are victims of a vengeful detail painter. Interesting figure.

I said it before with anakin and I’ll say it now I got my obi wan a while ago and I love him lol. Amazing figure. All the glory of the animated sculpt out weighs any complaints I could’ve had.

Your reviews are always so spot on. It’s cool to see you talk positively about things you like but also bring attention to things you don’t. I personally have been loving having these figures in my collection but I hope they continue to progress with quality as the line expands. Excited to see what’s coming next.

I agree the headscult is great- I also wish they used the prototype clothing material instead of going with material they’ve used in yet past to cut costs. Loose joints will be an issue over time, but he does look good in museum pose. Great review! Pretty sure the robe also the exact same size as Anikan’s. If so at least give us a wired hood and cleaner seams, Sideshow! 😄

I do like that Sideshow hands come with pegs, I always have a fear of pegs snapping with Hot Toys! Signed up for the Eastwood line, taking a chance, but those figures are so iconic, king of the Westerns and Cop movies! Great review.

I’m loving the animated line tbh, abit pricey for quality but at the end of the day we will pay it if we want the figure - hope the yoda gets better quality robes

Justin. The animated versions of Anakin and Obi-Wan are life. Throw in "snips" and Yoda..... such baller designs. I truly wished this figure conveyed the design aesthetic more than it does. I'm tempted to get the mythos statue of the same figure, in fact very tempted. The lack of a cape is disappointing. Thanks for the review and objective criticisms. Perhaps it is for some fans, but not me.... sadly.

I’m okay with how the fabric looks. The costumes for the movies were made of crinkle gauze fabric and you can definitely see that texture in the show. I will grant that it is very very strong on this figure I would’ve personally liked if they used the fabric hot toys did for the ROTS obi.

Hi Justin :) I suddenly wasn’t getting notices for figures from your channel. Today I checked and the “all notices” bell wasn’t checked off as it usually is. Now that it’s fixed, I watched this review. I saw the figure at SWC and it was ok, I think that the main concern was the price and that it was different from what many were expecting. I have no idea how much it cost to make the animated version of Obi but I imagine it costs the same as a more realistic version. It’s nearly identical to the animated version but not exactly. Sideshow charging $250 for this and including a generic base just screams "poor quality". That and the loose body.

But I'll have to swap their lightsaber hilts out for the Hot Toys ones. Sideshow is the WORST at lightsaber paint. It's worse than I could do and I'm simply an amateur model painter lol. I love them. I hate the Sideshow black hexagonal base. It’s the most boring, uninspired looking thing. At least back in the day when Hot Toys used the more basic oval bases they would print the film logo with a name plate, and that was basic but looked nicer.

Sideshow Collectibles have made the same mistake with this figure of Obi-wan Kenobi as Hot Toys did with the Obi-wan Kenobi figure from ROTS. The tabards on the back of each figure should finish around the sash (belt area) and not go down towards the back of the knees. Watch the Clone Wars series or even ROTS and you will see the difference. (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNaHm7iaxtCvpKs.html) I had emailed Sideshow Collectibles a few times while this figure was in development without any changes made to this figure. The break in the sash also does not look very good on either the Obi-wan Kenobi figure as well as the Anakin Skywalker figure. Unless you pull each section of the sash tightly together to try and make a seamless connection, it looks bad in general. The choice of fabric used on the tabards make the lines on the front taper diagonally towards the knees giving a chevron pattern. Instead the lines should run vertically down the tabards. Admittingly the robes on these figures don't really work either. Sideshow did not need to include the robes and would or reduced the cost for these figures. The accessories like the lightsabers, robe and holoprojector look more in keeping for a Black Series figure rather than a $255 Sideshow figure. It's up to each individual to ignore all the faults mentioned and willingly pay the asking price for these figures just to add to a collection.

To me, this is not a bad figure, but it is not a good figure as well. There are not many accessories that came with the figure. The base for this figure is just pure black with no printing on it at all. The head sculpt looks a bit weird to me and there’s black eyeliner on it. To me, this is just a boring figure with many obvious aspects that Sideshow can improve. This is just a lazy product.

Their display bases are so damn lame, Sideshow please improve your awful bases. If you're going to charge full Hot Toys price, the LEAST you could do is put more effort into the small details like the display bases. A name plate? A graphic layover? Even the damn Star Wars logo on top? Something? Anything? It's just so lazy. These figures are $50 overpriced.
