It is daunting, but the Clone Wars makes Revenge of the Sith more impactful because you understand the Obi Wan/Anakin relationship better. It also brings in Ahsoka, Bo-Katan which then should be followed with Rebels. Both animated series brings even more to The Mandalorian, as well as the overall arc and relationships.

I totally get it. I've decided to watch The Clone Wars animated movie tomorrow, before I watch the next episode of The Mandalorian. Then I will watch The Clone Wars series, in a couple of months. I did a poll here on You Tube and The Clone Wars came in 2nd ("The Boys" came in 1st). So I'll most likely be watching one season of The Boys and then one season of The Clone wars animated series. And then go from there. It's a lot of content and it takes awhile to edit all of these videos, so I'm trying to do my best in watching what everyone recommends. I have to honor the winner (The Boys) of the poll here on my You Tube Community page first 😊. Thank you for watching and commenting 😀✌🏼💛

@@KazzyCreates I definitely understand how crazy it must be to keep a schedule like that, but if at all possible, I would recommend watching the Clone Wars in chronological order. It's different than the release order, but the entire series is told in groups of episodes called arcs, where each arc has its own story. I would suggest considering watching it chronologically, and watch enough arcs that feel like the equivalent of one season. Of course its your decision to make, but I figured I might throw that out there as a possibility

To me it really showcases Sir Alec Guinness’ acting skills. Editing in clips from the prequel trilogy really highlights the emotions he was portraying when at the time, he had no idea what he was referring to. You really sadness, sorrow, regret, grief.

Watching this and seeing Obi-Wan reminisce about the old times; its hard not to get that weird crushing feeling of sadness in your chest. Now that you've put the idea forward of watching the entire series in chronological order, I'm tempted to do it as well. If you want another Sci-Fi series to react to, please check out Astartes part 1-5 by Astartes (channel name). They are short fan-made series done by 1 person and it is brilliant.

"He betrayed and murdered your father" This line is so deep. the real Anakin would never have done any of these terrible things. that's not Anakin anymore. that's a monster wearing his face. Obi-Wan saying that tells us that he considers the true Anakin to be dead and he does not recognize this person as his old friend. It's what I love about the writing of the older Star Wars movies. they found a way to make it more and more depressing and tragic.
@rikk319

Don't take away Anakin's agency and free will. Even Anakin realized the gravity and horror of his actions when he said "What have I done?" after betraying Mace Windu. Darth Vader was just the name Palpatine gave him and he accepted. Anakin's sins were real, and if he embraced his Vader "persona" to deal with the guilt he felt, that's all it was. His choices were vile...but just the same, he finally had the courage to make the right choice when he destroyed Palpatine in Return of the Jedi. You can't have Anakin's successes without also accepting his failures. Obi-wan dealt with his own feelings of failure and horror at what happened to those he cared for through his own lies of omission, like telling Luke his father was dead. He was trying to protect Luke from those horrors himself, even if he chose the wrong way to do it.

There are so many good fan films and fun Star Wars tributes nowadays I can spend all day just watching them one-after-the-other. Talent, acting, music and production quality-level have gone so way up for them as opposed to just 6 years ago. Sure, you still have many cheap-looking ones, but many also look professional-grade. It is really hard to pick my favorites on which ones I would absolutely love to see you react to, but some of them I would suggest are.... Hoshino - Star Wars Fan Film by Stephen Vitale, VADER EPISODE 1: SHARDS OF THE PAST by Star Wars Theory, The Chosen One by Heroes Fan Productions, The Path of Skywalker by Heroes Fan Productions, Skywalker - A Darth Vader Tribute by Neenkin, Ahsoka by Cantrous, Darth Vader Remembers Anakin Skywalker (Flashbacks) by Smasher, "Clone Wars is a kids show" by That Really Grills My Cheese, The Greatest Teacher Failure is by Heroes Fan Productions, KENOBI - A Star Wars Fan Film by Jamie Costa, (UPDATED) The Last Skywalker [100K Special] by Heroes Fan Productions (Note: spoilers for The Rise of Skywalker), & Kylo Ren vs Darth Vader - FORCE OF DARKNESS by SeizeThe Frame. Since you intend to do a "Clone Wars" and "Rebels" deep dive, you might as well start with the first two live-action films! I'm in. Just be sure to watch the Micro-series before the TV series as it covers Year 1 of the war, shows Anakin's knighting ceremony, and introduces Asajj Ventress, General Grievous, Threepio's golden plating and Anakin's facial scar. It is non-canon but fits perfectly before the first two episodes of "Clone Wars" which lead directly into the Clone Wars animated movie. Chronologically, those two episodes are Season 2, Episode 16, "Cat and Mouse" and Season 1, Episode 16, "Hidden Enemy".

It's classic Alec Guinness really. The power of the editing really brings it out but it's the acting of Guinness that makes this possible. You couldn't make a similar reimagining for any of the other actors in Star Wars because the subtlety of the performance just isn't there. Alec Guinness, as a man, was very private and guarded because of a childhood he was ashamed of, or so he hints at in his biographies. This privacy and _pathos just under the surface_ aspect of his characters is what gives them such depth and resonance in my opinion, and most (all?) of that comes from his personal experience. You can see Guinness the tired WW2 veteran in Star Wars, or Alec's violent Scottish step-father in Tunes of Glory, or the devote Catholic he was in real life in Monsignor Quixote. He was a great actor who brought a lot of dignity to the screen, along with suppressed emotion roiling beneath the surface of his characters.

Personally, I think release order is still the best way to watch them so you do not get spoiled by different things later like....spoilers.....Vader is Luke's father or Luke & Leia are siblings or Yoda is a master Jedi teacher pretending to be crazy. Sure, by now that seems common knowledge, but you'd be surprised how many newbies still do not know. I also think seeing The Clone Wars and Rebels after the prequel movies may be more fun still because you already know what happened and can now go back and rethink the prequels in a whole new context you did not think of before and can form your own theories and speculations to fill in the blanks yourself. I think once you saw all the movies, then it may be cool to try to see everything chronologically, but not for newbies. I LOVE the Solo movie, but it does kinda ruin part of the fun of seeing Han play hero the 1st time if you already saw Solo first before ANH. Plus, you do not get swamped with questions from newbies on stuff like, "why doesn't yoda recognize R2" or "why are Obi-Wan and Vader fighting so slowly in ANH", or "what is Luke's midi-chlorian count?" LOL! Plus, technology got better and better over the years and so, I think it can be a bit daunting to the eyes to go from the prequels to the original trilogy then to the new trilogy without reminding the viewers when each movie came out.

Long Answer to your question (skip if you don't like detailed responses, lol). The pros and cons of watching the Star Wars Saga in chronological order, bad news first: Cons: Even though the writers may have TRIED to stay internally faithful to their own stories, there are nonetheless numerous shout-outs to the original trilogy peppered throughout the prequel saga, with many lines deliberately echoing back to the originals such as "I have a bad feeling about this," and "this is where the fun begins", etc. (with Dave Filoni's Clone Wars series having nearly one "throwback line" per episode, although these are actually "throw forwards" chronologically speaking - yes, they COULD be interpreted as common sayings in-universe, but to get the most enjoyment out of hearing them in the first place, it helps to have prior knowledge going in), meaning the filmmakers KNOW or expect you to have seen the originals before hand. Also, there are numerous continuity issues, like Obi-Wan NOT remembering Annakin's droid R2-D2, and Princess Leia saying she remembers her mother as being "kind, but sad", adding "she died when I was very young" in Return of the Jedi. Of course she COULD be talking about Bail Organa's wife - her adoptive mother - but one gets the impression she means her REAL mother, Padme, who was LATER written as having died in childbirth. And because there is SO MUCH new material if you include The Clone Wars, Solo, Rogue One, etc., it can get a bit tiring watching them all. Adding Ahsoka Tano between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, for example, can be great, but then feel like something is missing when you finally DO get around to watching the 3rd film. You'll be like, where's Ahsoka? So watching the saga in chronological order can create a "bumpy ride" that wasn't originally intended. PLUS, since the prequels are more recent, they have better visual FX, a far more epic scale, and can inadvertently make the originals feel a little old and clunky by comparison. Disney's sequel trilogy can be something of a let-down too, because instead of Luke, Han, and Leia having roles as meaningful and important as Obi-Wan, Yoda, and R2 carrying over from the prequel trilogy, they kind of get shafted (SPOILER - in some cases literally, since one ends up falling down a long shaft). Since the emphasis remains on Rey, Finn, and Poe, it still works, but after all the build-up to finding the reclusive Luke Skywalker, the pay off in Last Jedi is definitely a step down from having Luke find Yoda in Empire Strikes Back. Pros: On the bright side, the original trilogy is - in my humble opinion - still the best and most engaging trilogy of the saga - so in terms of watching all six of the George Lucas films, you're saving the best for last, which feels pretty good when its over (Disney's sequel saga notwithstanding; and if you don't nitpick, and don't have a 30-year build-up of expectations overshadowing the final product, then the Disney films are good enough to enjoy for what they are - sheer popcorn entertainment with lightsabers, ray-guns, explosions, and John Williams' music). In short, you can't really go WRONG watching in chronological order - I've done it, and it IS interesting - but if you include the Clone Wars series and other peripheral films, its a bit like watching the Marvel films with the Agent Carter series, Agents of SHIELD and Daredevil Netflix series (which I've also tried). It's a wonderful intention, but it can REALLY kill the momentum of the feature films when you have to pause to watch two seasons of a show, then another movie, then ANOTHER season (or two - that chronologically run concurrently sometimes), etc. So if you DO set out to watch the Star Wars Saga chronologically, my advice would be to either stick to the main "episode" films, OR be prepared for a LONG - but entertaining - slog. Many fans with OCD (like me) have come up with their own MUST-WATCH episode lists to edit out some of the slower material, but in the end, the result is the same; these franchises weren't built to be seen chronologically, and adding in prequel material after the fact ALWAYS ends up raising questions and slightly throwing off continuity. But its fun to TRY, and hats off to you for just considering it. I tried it like this - because I AM slightly OCD (not that you'd notice) - I played Knights of the Old Republic, which averages about 50 hours of game time to get the full story, and takes place 4000 years before the Skywalker Saga, then watched the first two prequel films, then broke down the Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars cartoon to the point where Padme sees Annakin's first facial scar, then watched the Dave Filoni Clone Wars out of order, but following an episode guide that kept the key battles and timeline together - Battle of Christophsis, 2nd Battle of Geonosis, Senate Plot episodes, etc. - stopped on season 7, episode 8, after Ahsoka leaves the Jedi Order, then picked up the Tartakovsky cartoon again after Dooku's trials, which leads directly into Revenge of the Sith, followed by the last four episodes of Filoni's Season 7 Clone Wars, THEN watched the "movie" version of Jedi: Fallen Order, the video game, then Solo: A Star Wars Story, then the movie version of The Force Unleashed video game, which follows Vader's Sith Apprentice, then Filoni's Rebels, then watched Rogue One, followed by A New Hope, then the underrated Boba Fett Cartoon from the Holiday Special, the "Mission to Ord Mantell" audio adventure, THEN The Empire Strikes Back, and by then... I was wiped out. It started to feel like WORK, lol. I ultimately finished, but there is just SO MUCH MATERIAL. It CAN be done. I and others have done it... but it simply isn't built to flow together like one big, interwoven tapestry, and even the nine films of the main saga alone translate to over 18 hours, which, for people with lives, is a lot of time to set aside. My advice - stick to the 9 if you want to do a marathon, or find episode guides and watch in little blocks like "the Boba Fett Holiday Special" cartoon, followed by the Mandalorian episodes of the Clone Wars series, followed by The Mandalorian TV show, or the key Ahsoka episodes of Clone Wars, followed by the Ahsoka episodes of Rebels, etc., and keep it manageable so you don't lose your mind trying to make it all fit. Sorry for all the details, but OCD - what can you do? And to be fair... you asked! Thanks for all the great reaction videos, I'm sure whatever you end up choosing will be a blast - can't wait!

Yes, watch them. A few months back I did so myself and the whole saga makes so much more sense. I can't get hold of either the books or the comics (I now live in Turkey), but if you only watch the shows/movies in chronological order you will enjoy it. You should also make a break in the last series of Rebels. Before you watch the last 4 episodes you should watch at least one of the movies but I can't remember which one. Google it and you will find out.

@@ajclements4627 I have never read any of the books/comics. I now live in Turkey and you can't get anything like that out here. Also, even if I could order them (delivery by no means guaranteed!!) I would not have a clue what to read and in what order.

the correct order to watch the movies is: star wars, empire strikes back, then finally return of the jedi.

1) This fan edit plays like a trailer for the upcoming Kenobi Disney+ show. 2) I think the Star Wars main saga films are a little played out right now. Personally, it would be more interesting to watch reactions to the spinoff movies Rogue One & Solo.

This one focuses on the movies. If you want to see Kenobi tribute with a similar framing device that used the television series (the clone wars and Rebels which I recommend you watch them as part of Chronological Order it really changes your perspective) to see his whole life and get a taste of them to check out Hero Fan Productions: Kenobi but if you don't want any spoilers though then don't. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pt-bfaaJsM7QnHU.html

You should watch the saga chronologically from 1 to 6. I find the story develops better that way. That's how I binge watch them.

Watch episode 1 and 2,then the Clone wars 1-6, then episode 3 for the first hour, then Clone Wars 7(first 4 episodes,) then half hour of episode 3, then the last 3 episodes of the Clone Wars in conjunction with the last bit of episode 3. Then Rebels. Then Rogue one. Then skip the next 3 and rewatch the Mandorlorian. And watch Solo on a wet Sunday afternoon. I think that's Star Wars in order. But I could be wrong. Lol. It doesn't matter. It'll all make sense in the end.

Watch the whole Star Wars story. Films and animated series. It's well worth it. The Clones Wars series is epic, although it takes a couple of seasons to get really going. And the film is a bit meh.
