Everyone talks about Skyrim and how good it is. Well, it is good but Oblivion has something i feel more. As a Kid i played way more Hours in Oblivion than in Skyrim Today. The Games you play in your Childhood somehow stay forever in your Heart.

To me I felt like Oblivion was much more dense with content and overall a much better game, especially the massive caves in Oblivion while Skyrim had 80% of them feeling like tiny little one room caves. I think that Skyrim just modernised a lot more with simple things like sprint and duel welding it made Skyrim the more modern and quality of life game but not the better game. Till today I am still rather disappointed in Skyrim because of how much of the Oblivion magic it's missing

Everything is just better when you experience it as a kid. Children just have this innate sense of wonder and excitement that makes every new experience special and memorable. It is a shame we lose that as we grow up.

Morrowind and Oblivion are both fantastic games, but a lot of people talk about Skyrim because it was more accessible. Morrowind and Oblivion had systems and game mechanics that weren't always intuitive. When you swing a sword at a monster in Morrowind, it takes an experienced player to recognize that the sword attack did nothing because the hidden die roll determined that it was a miss; an inexperienced player will just be confused, get frustrated that they can't seem to hit the bandit, and then give up. Meanwhile, in Skyrim, if you swing your sword at a spider, to hit it; done. Leveling and the stat allocation in the older titles are also more complicated, which will also bog down new players. Meanwhile, Skyrim just simplified it down to three stats and let players run with it. Basically, I think Skyrim implemented system changes that catered to the casual gamer, and if you can tap into the casual gamer base, then you've tapped into a massive audience. That's the main reason Skyrim is more popular. Skyrim also implemented support for a healthy modding scene in their game. While the content in Skyrim pales in comparison to Morrowind or Oblivion, it is the modding scene that keeps players coming back to their game. I'll forever hate Skyrim because the base game is so lacking in player agency and player impact; but at this point I have to recognize that I just wasn't the target audience for the product they delivered. There are incredible mods that might give me the gameplay I desire, but I can't expect such from the base game.

Does anyone else hear an oblivion or Skyrim track and have a strong emotional feeling to go back, almost like needing to catch up with a long time friend? maybe it was the time of my life i played them that made them so special to me but ill always have a place in my heart for Oblivion and Skyrim

@@hatshepsut295There is no mystery here. He's being foolish. Some consumption IS experience. And so it is with Oblivion.
