favorite woodwinds Oboe but I like bassoon as much, maybe because I'm a cellist and bassoon and cello are similar ( "Brothers from another mother"

I wonder why the oboist switched his bells for some of the clips and does the bell shape alter the tone of the instrument? Good video

Nice observation! I am the oboe player in the video and during the time the video was shot I was testing different bells and brought several instruments for the recording. The shape influences the projection of the sound especially in the higher register differently. I did not switch on purpose for different passages, I was just comparing the bells during the session and as a result different bells are visable in the cut.

I would comment that flutter tounge is not very effective on oboe as the size of the opening of the reed makes it very difficult to produce a controled and audible effect.

Cor Anglais rather than English Horn, is what I prefer it to be called, and I prefer it over the Oboe.
