The newest version of PPTNDI includes transitions from power point!! You can find the link to download the latest version in the description above. This is a huge improvement and makes it a really great solution for DSK graphics in OBS!

OBS does have this capability natively. Steps: (1) create a Scene in OBS and call it something like “Ballast Logo”. (2) Add your PNG image (with transparency) to the Ballast Logo Scene. (3) Add the Scene as a Source in all of your scenes. (4) create a hotkey to turn the logo on/off in the Ballast Logo Scene. Then, when you apply this DSK, your PNG will appear whenever needed. Thanks for the video! Most ‘Overlay Videos’ are talking about ‘Gaming’ and as you well know, Worship streaming is quite different as far as specific needs go. (At least to me! ) I’m quite new to OBS and I rely quite heavily on videos like yours for tutoring! Thank you so much for taking time to make this video and explain the different options! I may very well look into one of the ‘Downstream’ options!

Thanks Stephen, awesome information. In our OBS church streaming setup we've been using Propresenter (on another PC via NDI) for both lower thirds words, and for notice or sermon slides. While the full screen slides just have their own scene (with an inset for the speaker that we can turn on/off), we added another copy of the lower thirds content in another "asset" (a scene without sound that we then add to all of our cameras). This avoided the need for creating the second scene for each camera. We initially just turned them on and off with the "eye" in the sources list in each scene before it went live, but I kept forgetting to turn on that source when we changed cameras, and then forgot to turn them all off a the end of worship or when there were notices between songs. The work around we ended up with is using a hot key (CTRL-P for Propresenter, but you could pick any hotkey that makes sense). That hotkey turns on/off the Lower thirds source in all of our cameras at the same time, so we don't forget it as often now, as it's really easy to turn them all on or off at the beginning or end of songs before we change cameras. Thanks for the great tips - I'll certainly try out PPT NDI now they can handle transitions.

So 1st of all. You are awesome! I learn something everytime I check in with you. My latest delima was overlaying lyrics without having to switch to a camera veiw that was reduced and showing the lyrics behind the camera. After watching this video and using some information I learned while editing a service recently I combined this and that information and I wanted to share the folloiwng. #1 - Using Proclaim I created lyric slides that were transparent on the lower 1/3 of my screen. Proclaim allows you to save theses as image slides and packages them for you in a folder so you can save them wherever. Next I created an image slide show for my scene in OBS and imported those saved Proclaim images. Next I went into my settings a set hot keys for moving through those slides. Now I have lyrics over my image and they work great. I don't have to worry about what camera I am accessing as long as I drag my image slide show on top of that source I'm good to go. So excited! a solution that I've used to get a similar result is to put my presentation software on another monitor and bring in that monitor as a source in obs. We use a green screen background and use chroma key in obs. Working great for live stream when we are not phyisically gethering. When we are meeting again, I think I will use our projector as the '2nd monitor' or present on another computer and and use ndi. Great tutorial. Thanks!

Another way to add a Downstream Keyer is to use a second computer with OBS. The NDI plugin for OBS works for both input and output. So, you can stream from one OBS NDI output to the second OBS NDI input. On the first add your cameras and scenes to switch. On the second OBS do your downstream keying and stream it to your live source.

If you are using a second computer anyway you could use OBS on that machine too. Just create a scene for each "slide" and fade between them while using the NDI Output from OBS + NDI Plugin

Awesome video. There is also another option for BibleShow and that is how I use OBS with Videopsalm (A free Scripture and lyrics software. It's so awesome) in my Church. Videopsalm doesn't have NDI capability, however I use its second display by capturing it with OBS window capture. Then I key out the background color (usually black) and then have my DSK working for our lyrics. PS: To be able to capture the display of BibleShow, you have to use OBS version 25. This is because BibleShow uses Windows UWP features for its displays.

Hi Ballast, thanks a lot for your recommendations, I will give a look to PPTNDI software. A solution that we have implemented at our House of Worship to display Bible & Lyrics is a custom OpenLP (Open Source Church Projection Software) stage view that we capture as a BrowserSource in OBS. For Lower Thirds I've created an HTML & CSS design with custom CSS variables that allows us to dinamically change the content from OBS software.

Sir please, the bible show for down streaming, is it downloadable or probably use it from the site directly to the system software for streaming.

You didn’t mention it so since it’s the most popular worship software, it’s worth mentioning that ProPresenter can natively do NDI with the SDI/NDI module. You can also (on the Mac version) enable Syphon and use the NDIsyphon utility to make it NDI. I’ve got tutorials on those on my channel, but I won’t link them here unless someone wants me to. Btw, good work.

Great video! I just started using OBS to stream our churches services. Using the multiple scenes with different sources worked great to get our scripture verses on the broadcast. An issue I came across was extreme choppiness on both the stream and the recording. I was streaming to facebook and optimized my OBS settings like you suggested on your video. I do know that our internet speed is extremely low and we're finally getting it upgraded to 100 down and 10 up this week. Will the upgrade in internet speed fix the choppy stream issue? Thanks for your help and all the great content you create!

Upgraded OBS to 30.0 Unfortunately this removed the ppt ndi configuration. Have reinstalled the the NDI and PPT files from your links in this video. However, i continue to receive error: Plugin Load Error The following OBS plugins failed to load: obs-ndi please update or remove these plugins. Instead of using a lots of programs in one pc and disturbing the streamer editing changing images and texts while switching scenes. We just found a better solutions that works great for us and might be good for interest streamers. The idea is working in a web server. The script have an admin panel where the assistant can change the logo image and texts and also the name of guests or places using JQUERY features (without refresh) and in OBS we use BROWSER as sources and editing the CSS Background to be transparent ( like chroma).. contact for more info about this setup and for the control panel
