My issue is... When i play it dosent lag at all but when i whatch the gameplay it is very very lagy when i start shooting someone or when alot of action happends in the gameplay.

I just built my second computer so I shouldn’t of had any stuttering but I did and couldn’t solve the issue. After this video, I can fully say my videos and stream are finally perfect! I struggled with my single pc at first, tons of headaches so I decided to build another just to find out I had stuttering in that as well for a good year and half I’ve had problems but until now!!! This solved my issue perfectly, watched a few videos to try and solve my OBS lag on recordings (which was a new thing never had it happen before just randomly started) this cleared everything up. Thanks!

hello everyone! I had a really bad lag issue and this video didn't fix it, HOWEVER I fixed it myself! if you're still experiencing lag go into settings > video > FPS and set it to around 20 make sure your downscale filter is at bicubic! I hope this helped!

Thank you for this video! I've implemented some of the changes you suggest, and will do a test stream & recording on OBS tomorrow night to see the results. I got this new laptop within the last week and a half and my OBS Studio recordings have been having stuttering audio that desyncs when the video is longer than 40 minutes. So it seems it could be all of these default settings and features that I never had on my previous laptop, such as the Game setting. Fingers crossed! Note: I do not stream/record PC games, only games from my PS4 via an Elgato game capture card.

Some more tips: -Use mkv instead of mp4 (worked for me) -Run OBS with admin priveleges -Set OBS priority to high and game priority below normal -Turn off Game Mode (only if you're using Windows 1903 or lower) -Run the game BEFORE you open OBS

when i record my screen my video doesnt lag but when i play games on full screen my video starts to lag and my game doesnt lag at all why?? and i get over 60 fps in game (obs lags when i play games only on full screen )

Great video, very informative and straight to the point! I did have a question about the bit rate. - Say I have an upload speed of ~9mb/s. If I was streaming in 720p would a bit rate of 4500 be overkill? Should I just set it to 3500 to split up the load, since I usually have KZfaq playing music in the background?

Whenever I record a large explosion in minecraft, it doesn't jump around frames when the explosion causes a bunch of lag, not even when I move around, but only when I turn, which takes the least effort for the game to do.

I did this and it lagged like crazy. I set the FPS to 30 and the Output to 720, worked like a charm

Guys, if your game is running smoothly and your video recording is blurry, or low in fps, make sure you are using game capture if playing game or window capture. Selecting display capture do not work well with game recordings. If still an issue then monitor your cpu consumption while recording. If cpu is running at 80% low down your recording settings. :)

For those who tried everything and still recordings are laggy or stuttering and quality is bad, try to export videos in the same drive where OBS is installed - preferably C: drive.

If you don't mind, here is a tip about the bitrate. In the explanation about upload bandwidth, you transpose 20000 kbps to 20MB of upload per second. However, just about 2,5 MB would be correct. If your bandwidth is actually limited and since the difference is significant, it might cause a problem for other users and they might not be able to find the reason based on this explanation. For those who want to understand further, there is a quick explanation about what I mean: Kbps is "kilo bit per second", or "1000 bit per second". That means 20000 kbps means 20000 * 1000 bits per second. 8 bits make up one Byte. 1024 Bytes make up one Mega Byte (MB). Calculate: 20000 kilo bits per second / 8 = 2500 kilo Byte per second 2500 kilo Byte per second / 1024 = ~2,44 Mega Bytes per Second That leaves you with just about 2,5 MB Upload per second.

COMPLETELY different version of OBS. None of the settings are even similar..

My settings showed a little different than yours but you put me on the right track. I adjusted the gain and turned off automatic white balance control and it fixed it. Not sure which of those did the trick but with it fixed I was fine with it. Thanks for the video.
