I was gifted the OBSBOT Tail Air to try out, and let me tell you: this PTZ camera is neat! It not only tracks YOU, but also tracks objects you select and you can control it with simple hand gestures. Hi Meredith. Thank you for the review. I follow many channels, fell behind a bit, haven't yet watched your Descript video, so didn't notice the use of the Tail. I bought an earlier model of OBSBOT camera and tried it out in my college classroom. It worked fine, but is AC powered, so cannot be used away from an outlet. Plus the video quality is not great. The Tail looks to be much better in all respects. I need to be followed while *outdoors* narrating videos of habitats, plant communities, plant species, etc. Been looking at the Tail for this (internal battery? yes please), but need to try it out first. Are you listening, OBSBOT folks?

I really like this camcorder from OBSBOT, it's great for live streaming, supports NDI and connects directly to KZfaq etc. I think its best value is for live streaming, and the M50 doesn't compare.

I've noticed the Osmo Pocket 3 does a great job with tracking. I just used it in a couple of training videos and it's really nice to have something that tracks you but it can be distracting if you don't move much (as you mentioned) when you're in a talking head capacity.

From what you said about this camera, I wouldn’t say it’s “AI-powered”… it’s got face & object tracking & is on a gimbal. I don’t see how that’s much different than the tracking you’d get on a professional camera, minus some of the gestures (and being on something that can move to track you). Either way, solid review from you

I had a DJI Osmo unit and I think it did the same thing and has been around for years. Probably wouldn’t purchase this unless it does something different.

A final thought; you mentioned use cases at the end, the OBSBOT might have one or two and I’d like to see it being used in such a fashion. I think there are better cameras costing much less. 😎

Why would you need tracking for talkin head videos? And I’ve never seen overhead product or unboxing videos showing the object being tracked. Watching on my iPad Mini 6, the footage is quite a lot better from your Canon M50. And finally, $500 is far too pricey for that camera, I can usually get pretty close with my guesses but $200 was way off this time. Will you be replacing your M50? I didn’t watch the Descript video so I can’t address the comparison question you asked, but in my opinion, after watching this video and seeing your comparison, the quality from the OBSBOT is far below that of the M50.
