There's been a lot of games from my PS1 collection that I've wanted to look at in the past, but I never felt they would work as full reviews of their own.
So I decided to cover them all at once.

Me upon seeing the video: Oh cool, anime-type design, and obscure games! That'll be a cool watch! Me after the vid: Those portraits really, really remind me of Pit from Kid Icarus: Uprising, and it's...seriously charming. I see you are a man of culture as well! In all seriousness, though, this was a really interesting watch, and a lot of these games were my first time ever seeing them! Well, except for Spider. That game was cool, but seriously hard, and...well, as you noted, I'm surprised the game got a K-A rating, considering the cutscenes in it. I never could beat it, but it left a lasting memory of my childhood. ...Kirby is still the better part, though. XD

Mentioning PBS Kids and Dragon Tales in this video made me feel a little nostalgic. I watched a buttload of that channel growing up and Dragon Tales was one of four shows I enjoyed the most when I was young. The other three being Clifford, Zoboomafoo, and Arthur. That said, I knew nothing of the PS1 as a kid, so color me surprised that that there was a game released for it.

Fun fact; the first time I watched an episode of Cubix was the day 4Kids was LITERALLY counting down the last few episodes until the series was cancelled. Like, they had the announcer actually say that there were only a few episodes left and count them down until the series ended. And, I think they had a quick 5 second animation at the end where the Cubix characters all said "goodbye." It was the weirdest mix of advertising, honouring the series they had cancelled, and morbidly watching it die. 4Kids was dark.

I found out something interesting about that XS Junior Dodgeball Game. In the Original Japanese version of the game, all of the playable characters were girls, Have you noticed that all the boy characters look slightly off compared to the girl characters? Now you know why, It’s not just the characters that were changed, but several elements were removed for some reason, The original game had voice acting and a “special match” mode. None of those things were present in the localized version. If you guys wanna check out the original version of the game, it’s called Dodge De Ball.

Funny how you say that, as a fan of racing games, you haven't played Gran Turismo... Yet you played the game that the series creator - Kazunori Yamauchi - developed so that Sony would let him make Gran Turismo. That game was *Motor Toon Grand Prix.* (Though that said, the version we got was actually the second game; the first one was never released outside Japan.) How's that for an interesting fun fact? I think every ''obscure'' PsOne title I have played are first experienced from old demo discs. Speed Freaks, or Speed Punks in NTSC release: overlooked kart racing game with characters having same kinda limbs Rayman has. Evil Zone: Woo boy if this fighting game isn't overlooked, I dunno what is. But this game's roster is pretty much filled with anime character tropes that were common in animes back in 90's, seriously, the game's poster character is a sentai with Duke Nukem's voice actor. And ALL the attacks in the game are done with triangle button and with the help of different directional buttons ya can do different attacks, while blocking is done with square button. Kula World: expect Swedish to make a puzzle game like this. And it's fun. In this game ya play as a mere ball and move it around floating levels to collect fruits to get to the goal.(this game is also available as a PsOne Classic for PS3, physical copies are RIDICILOUSLY expensive) Rat Attack: Another puzzle game, but the difference is that this one's also available for N64. In this game, ya choose a cat character, each feline having specific strenghts and weaknesses, and gather the required amount of alien rats from levels before they chow down and ruin the furniture from the level. Out of all games I listed, this is the ONLY game that I don't own.

When it comes to a potential sequel to this list, AKA a list about obscure PS2 titles, one that comes to my mind is literally just that: a game known as ObsCure, which was also on the Xbox. I'm still looking for a copy of that game, but one thing I can tell you is that the story is really messed up, and the sequel is possibly even more so. It's about a mutagen created from a strange plant, and apparently this plant turns people into vampires since they become weak to light. Also apparently, that plant was turned into narcotic in the sequel, Obscure: The Aftermath. It's also a co op horror game with an extensive item combination mechanic, though apparently, that wasn't enough to make reviews much more than so-so in terms of scoring.

I vaguely remember the Cubix cartoon. The show was basically Mega Man if Mega Man was made out of Rubik's Cubes. Surprised that they made a racing game out of it though...

I remember it quite well. As far as 4kids quality of editing and dubbing, this show was one of their decent dubs. A bit cheesy on some ends but decent.

Out of these I've only played Bust a move 4, for years I had no idea it got a home port because I always looked for "Puzzle bobble 4" and obviously never found it... This game is WAY harder than I expected.

LMAO How did Spider get away with a K-A rating? You're right, the Boss Game Studios logo alone should've made it at least T. Maybe even M.

YES! Spider is such a great game and fun fact, the guy who did the OST for that was Barry Leitch, same guy who did the SNES Top Gear OST.

@nifinland

Hugo is far from obscure. It and it's sequel are home console versions of PC games which in turn are based on a game used in former game show. Ok, maybe in THAT sense it's obscure, but Hugo games were at their golden age when they got to PsOne and PS2 era slowly started to lose the ultimate troll's charm, with few good titles here and there. But I swear Hugo's English voice is painful to my ears and thus prefer Finnish voice or hell, even his original Danish voice over that English ear rape.

DMA Design was the studio that became Rockstar. Boss Game Studios, the company behind Spider, shut down in the early 2000s.
